Have you ever noticed how dogs love stinky stuff? They are absolutely in love with anything that smells horrid AND they like nothing better than to roll in it. Because of Libby’s perfume detour today, we were one step away from needing to fumigate the ole’ workatorium. After her very first bathtub experience (she’s been bathed before — just not placed in a bath tub), she smelled pretty darned awesome.
It must’ve felt great to her too. She ran “tuck-butt” around the living room a bajillion times, and then took her chipmunk (who had its first bath too!) to bed for an afternoon nap.

I just read the latest entry on my good friend, Alisa’s BLOG titled ‘What’s in a Name’. It got me thinking about my own name, and stories that I’ve heard over and over and over again. I’m ok with the name Shelley. It could’ve been worse… let me tell you how much worse…
My Mom named me Shelley Sue. Her intent was that I be called just that — kinda like Mary Lou or Leigh Ann — you know, names that just go together. I couldn’t possibly tell you how many times she’s said, “If I would’ve known that people weren’t going to call you Shelley Sue, I would’ve written it altogether as Shelisu.” ::cringe::
So I’m not Michelle or Rachelle — I’m Shelley. I was almost Sheila, but for whatever reason, that fell through. My brother was absolutely devastated because I wasn’t named Olive Oil. (For that at least, thanks Mom!)
I knew my only child was a boy even when I was told he was girl. The pencil on a string lied, and the nurse in the doctor’s office didn’t know what she was talking about. He had the name Benjamin Scott even before I got pregnant. Benjamin was for my (now ex) husband’s uncle (they called him Joe but ummmmm – no), and his middle name, Scott, was chosen because of my favorite brother in the whole wide world. Had Benjamin been a girl, he would’ve been Morgan something or the other. I think he’s actually ok with his name — he’s never complained.
My brother goes by his middle name — he was named Dallas after my father — and I have no clue where his middle name, Scott, originated. I’m assuming he either wasn’t crazy about being a ‘Dallas’, or he just figured that name simply belonged to our Dad. He’s always gone by D. Scott.
After marriage and divorce, I dropped the Sue totally (gone! outta here!) and took my maiden name as my middle name instead. At the end of the day, I think the names Scott & Shelley are pretty ok. With parents named Dallas Maynard and Polly Marcella, it could’ve been worse!!

Have a wonderful weekend — and try your best to stay positive. Remember, negativity is contagious!

How do you spend time with friends and family when some have children and need to stay home and others live too far away? Might I suggest trying World of Warcraft? Perry, Jerilyn, Ben and I make great things happen in game! Once you down the biggest, baddest boss in Kara (a high-end instance or dungeon), you simply gotta pose for a photo:

Netherspite down!
And then, when you down a boss with 6 friends when it’s a 40-man raid — you pose for another photo:

Onyxia down! (Onyxia’s death is such a big deal — his head is hung from the gates of Stormwind City once he’s defeated. See?)
C’mon and join us this winter when there’s little to do and gas prices are outrageous! You know you want to… 😉

I awoke this morning the same old way — reading the online news to a cup of coffee. The headline, “Thousands of voter registration forms faked, officials say” didn’t draw me in until I read that the CNN article was about Indiana. It seems as if ACORN — a liberal activist group already in trouble in Las Vegas — is filing bogus voter registration forms. The forms included registrations submitted in the names of the dead — and in one case, the name of a fast-food restaurant, Jimmy Johns. (You gotta love Jimmy Johns ….right??)
CNN also reports:
A subsidiary of the group was paid $800,000 by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s campaign to register voters for the 2008 primaries, and ACORN’s political wing endorsed Obama back in February. But Obama’s campaign told CNN that it “is committed to protecting the integrity of the voting process,” and said it has not worked with ACORN during the general election.
So does this mean that Hillary was gypped?
