Happy Saturday!

Cute video clip — I think this was filmed at my house. 😉

Busy week…

Some weeks fly by and even though you stay busy, you can’t quite put your finger on one really good thing you accomplished. It’s finally Friday, and this too has been a busy week. But I’m feeling pretty awesome because this time, I can point straight at the progress. This week’s progress looks like a fresh web site launch for Scott McKain!

I’m going to reward my efforts by getting up from the computer chair. I plan to be ‘out and about’ over the next few days, so look for more posts and new photos. Enjoy your weekend!

Octoworker

CNN rattles in the background most of my working hours. There’s so much coverage about Octomom that I’m thinking I too should get some TV coverage. Call me Octoworker! I have at least 8 jobs and feel that I’m deserving of the title! (For the record, my G’ma McKain had 13 children and no one tried to get her to put even one of them up for adoption. No, she wasn’t on welfare, her babies were all conceived the normal way, and the age differences allowed for the older ones to help with the younger ones — but still, all the talk about the psychological effects on Octomom’s first 6, stemming from feelings that they weren’t enough — is lost on me.)

It’s a good day even if I don’t make CNN. The sun is shining (even though it’s much too windy), it’s 75 degrees today (even though tomorrow’s forecast doesn’t look so promising), and the first sign of spring has appeared!

is it spring?

Old fashioned

I mentioned in an earlier post that I’m back on the ole’ carb diet. As I fixed myself a piece of lunchmeat on a plate for dinner tonight, it sparked a memory from a very long time ago.

I was probably in the 7th or 8th grade — I know that I was not yet old enough to drive, nor did I have a boyfriend old enough to drive yet. For lunch on every school day, my friends and I would walk to McKain’s Market — yes, back in the day it was open campus for lunch in the burg. Now when your family owns a grocery store, sometimes it’s pretty awesome. It sucks to have a “real job” when all your friends are watching TV after school — but it did have its perks. Take for example the lunch date we had with my parents come rain or shine.

Mom always said that I was eating up all their profits — thinking back now, heck I probably was. I can remember that it would take a loaf of bread to feed the gang of friends that I’d drag in there every day. I would go behind the meat counter and slice these HUGE thick pieces of old fashioned loaf while Dad smeared the Miracle Whip on the fresh, doughy, white bread. Everyone got a sandwich, but had to buy their own drink, chips or whatever else they wanted.

I still love old fashioned loaf! I don’t get bread with it right now (even though I REALLY want some!), and my Dad isn’t around to smear the Miracle Whip anymore. But memories that float in when you least expect them are like a gift. So have some old fashioned loaf for lunch sometime soon and see what old fashioned memory visits you.

Indiana stuff

Reading news on the IndyStar site today, I ran across a few interesting facts about notorious crime baddies linked to our fine state. I didn’t know that Jim Jones started his first church in Indianapolis! Did you? Check out page if you’re interested in this crazy trivia too!

I haven’t posted a photo lately, so here’s one that I think is pretty cool…

spring walk

Hope that everyone is enjoying the weekend — hey, it’s almost 75 degrees!! Wuwu!
