I got a call today from NaLona and I missed it (primarily because she called the phone I rarely use). She left a message that I didn’t even listen to until after 7:00. It was an invite to see an old classmate and friend — Cathy. Cathy left the burg a long time ago, but I am always happy to see her when she comes back around for a day or two. I guess it’s been about 10 years since the last time we got together, but she really hasn’t changed.

I missed most everyone else that rolled in to visit since I was late. But Mark Bussey was kind enough to take a photo of the remaining 4 classmates before I headed home for the night.

It’s almost a holiday weekend, and I really don’t have plans other than do things I haven’t had time to do throughout the past couple of weeks. Before I quit work for today, I wanted to share a photo and one another thing. First, the photo — Libby has been teaching Gracie a thing or two about retrievers…

And now for the best part. If you have a twitter account, there’s someone you should be following. Now this twitterer doesn’t provide motivational or business tips, and is probably not going to follow you in return. He follows ONE person, and has 251,734 followers. It’s “shitmydadsays”. You can also follow the tweets from this URL (feed://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/62581962.rss) or by subscribing to that link through your favorite RSS reader.
Here’s the account description: I’m 28. I live with my 73-year-old dad. He is awesome. I just write down shit that he says.
It’s funny stuff. Check it out!

I met Gracie last month on the wine tasting extravaganza. When I saw her, I’m pretty sure I was pretty sober — and I liked her right away. Gracie had a good Mom, but she wasn’t a family member or even a pet. Her sole purpose was to produce puppies — the much sought after golden doodles. Gracie wasn’t cooperative in that regard; therefore, her Mom needed to replace her. She needed to find her a new home.

Gracie has now ridden in a car without the vet being her final destination, has had a bath in a hot tub, has taken a walk on a leash, and has slept in a bed. She is beginning to bond with her new sister, Libby, and likes to nap on the couch. She’s scared of EVERYTHING. Even Ben & Amber’s chihuahua, Wanwan.
Wanwan is a tiny dog with a big message. Her self-image doesn’t jive with the facts. Gracie is a big dog, with a negative self-image who lacks confidence to even get a drink of water without coaxing. Her self-image doesn’t jive with the facts either. Libby doesn’t care about self-image. She cares about chicken. Here’s hoping that it won’t be long before I can share a photo where they are all close enough together to get in one frame.

My Grandmother was buried on Friday. Last night, someone broke in her house, rummaged through everything, and put their filthy hands on things that didn’t belong to them. Yes, right in the middle of town — across from the Dollar Store and behind the Telephone Building.
If anyone happens to run across some asshole that has a new black iPod, JVC speaker system, blue toolbox, about 2 gallons of change, some watches and a sneaky smile on their face, please let me know.
The actual value of the items is not what has me fired up — it’s that someone would break into a 98 year-old dead woman’s house when she isn’t even cold in the ground yet that sickens me.
I want someone in jail. Period. Do I think it’s someone local? You betcha!

My main system is now up and running on this chilly fall (booooo!) morning in the burg. Still a few bugs and minor issues that most likely won’t get ironed out without (a) spending money (b) a bug-fix release or (c) the software manufacturers doing a little compatibility work. I guess the thing that really gets me most is that this whole software release thing isn’t “Mac-like.”

Remember Windows ME? Well, that’s what this feels like. So many of the things I love most about Mac are dissolving. For example — where there used to be rare software updates, now there are many; where everything used to be plug and play, now I have to figure it out on my own.
Yes, OSX 10.6 (Snow Job — ermmm Snow Leopard), frees up HD space and programs open (and sometimes crash) faster. But still, Apple could’ve (and should’ve) done this better. I expected more.
