According to Mashable, who quotes research firm, Harris Interactive, “45% of Employers Now Screen Social Media Profiles“. So if you’re looking for a job in this competitive marketplace, you can figure that 1 of every 2 places you apply will check you out on Facebook and Twitter before considering you for employment. Seriously.
So do you understand the concept?? It’s SOCIAL media. I crack up when I read some posts on Facebook. Teenagers of friends and relatives that post stuff like they think their school friends are the only ones that will read them. Did y’all forget you asked to be my friend too?? Like I’m not gonna’ tell your Mom that your friend tagged you in a photo posted to Facebook where you’re spraying Pam onto a lighter and making flames shoot out in the kitchen?!? But there are tons of adults that are just as bad — many are worse!
Like this — I wonder what that Shelley Erwin chick did to have a $5k bounty on her head, or what the chick on the right was thinking when she allowed that shot to be captured. These photos aren’t real. If I WERE looking for a different job, I would hope that my prospective employer would realize I have a sense of humor and not be an idiot. (You can go to http://www.photofunia.com and make your own incriminating photos!)

If these WERE real, (and not just clean, stupid but fun photo mockups), I would NOT post them here, on FaceBook, or Twitter. Maybe this post has you thinking back to a photo that your friend shared on Facebook where you were hammered at a party. Or maybe you’re thinking about that post you made saying your boss was a turd while you were playing on the Internet at work. Dontcha’ wonder if they were seen by someone you would prefer didn’t see them? These are simply the risks you take with social media. Social = Public.

And, while we’re on the subject — did you know that Facebook can also ruin your relationships? Don’t believe it? Check it out on youtube!

All of the major interior painting is done on our recent remodeling project. Some of the doors have yet to receive a first coat, and there’s still a lot of touch-ups in our near future — but for the most part, that baby is painted. *wipes brow*
Not one room has flooring yet, there are no kitchen cabinets and the water is still turned off until we get the bathroom tile down, but these next couple of weeks should show vast improvements. I can’t wait to get ONE room complete enough to share a before/after photo!
After slaving away on Labor Day, I thought a bath might make me feel better — not to mention that I looked like I’d just slaughtered someone (yes, the front door is red). It worked. My soap smelled like Sweet Tarts! How cool is that??

Safari has always been my favorite browser. Drudge Report has always been my favorite news source. In the image above on the left, is Drudge today in the Safari 4 browser; and on the right is the same page segment within Firefox. Both shots are from my MAC that is running the Snow Leopard OS. So hmmm… now what?

It’s a rainy morning in the burg. No cause for alarm, right? Wrong! This day is turning out to be traumatic for Gracie. First, it’s impossible to pee when you’re scared of thunder and your Mom won’t continue to stand outside in the rain (in her pajamas). Next, Libby steps on the green squeaky lizard. The lizard’s tail and tongue pop out as it makes a loud squawk, and Gracie has yet another set-back. Panting, cowering, and dying to pee, she’s quivering in the corner waiting for the clouds to clear and the rain to cease. I hope it’s soon!
Before and after shots of the remodeling project to come soon. We were planning to paint today, but I’m not sure how that’s going to pan out. We’ve yet to get the new lights installed to replace the old ones, and painting in the dark is a recipe for disaster. At this point, I’m not sure I care — I just wanna get er’ done!

The girls are beginning to bond. Libby doesn’t run when Gracie gets within 10 feet of her like she did before. It was almost like Libby thought the light colored hound was radioactive or something. Now Libby allows 3 feet before she runs — and once today (just once) they were pretty close under my desk.

See how happy Libby looks? 😉
