While in Florida, we stopped in a Bealls store simply because I’d never shopped there before. I’m a sucker for sunglasses, watches and shoes — and this time, the shoes won.
Checking out the Sketchers Shape-ups, I started talking to this old dude and he told me that he had a pair and his wife had a pair. Said he walked 2 miles at least once everyday and with these miracle shoes his legs were on fire after a quarter of a mile. I admit, I was thinking the dude was pretty darned old and his wife probably weighed a few hundred pounds and these shoes wouldn’t do anything for me. Still, I walked out of the store with a pair.

Perry now has a pair too — and so does Mom, but she’s still in training with them and isn’t safe to venture outside of the garage while wearing them.
The old dude in Bealls was evidently in better shape than me and his wife is probably a top super model for seniors because these shoes truly provide a workout. Put them on and you feel like you’re walking in sand, or 6 inches of thick mud, or running in water. Shut off the computer and go buy a pair. You can thank me later.

I used to love to listen to it rain. Thunder is ok too — just so long as there’s no wind. The problem is now, I have 2 dogs that are terrified of storms and one works the other into a frenzy. For the past couple of hours, I’ve been panted on and pinned under covers. This morning reminds me of the old days when I was up before the crack of dawn to drive a school bus. Only then, I would go to bed before 2:00 AM.

I haven’t had a ton of time to post here since returning from Florida. I’m still playing catch up. But I’ve had this on my mind for the past several days…

The pesky neighbors stay in a park in Florida and it’s an ‘over 55’ community. It seems like every other place is someone from Indiana escaping the frigid winter temps. The other half of the residents are from a ton of different places. For example, we met two wonderful couples that are not US citizens — couple #1 from Nova Scotia and Couple #2 from Manchester, England.
They talked about their love for the area and how much they hated to return home to the colder weather. Both couples were active and spending money and eating at Red Lobster and supporting tourism in Bradenton, Florida, USA. I asked them why they didn’t stay another month until their weather was warmer. They explained they were only allowed 6 months in the US. They had to check in at the border within the time frame allowed, or they could be banned from returning for 5 years.
So I don’t get it… our federal government fails to enforce immigration laws and we have a bajillion illegals loitering around — but these couples who are abiding by the law, spending money and contributing to our country’s economy are pushed out and locked away on the other side of our borders.

They’re back! Those pesky neighbors are back in the burg just in time for the 47 degree Saturday we are so enjoying. At least they aren’t calling to brag about how they have their A/C on. ::smirk::
While they stay in God’s waiting room during the winter months, they seem to always be excited to come ‘home’ for a few warm summertime ones. Crazy thing this year though, they thought it would be a good idea to buy another car in Florida not thinking how they were going to get it back to Indiana. A short and uneventful flight got me there — but the trip home was a disaster from the word go. Flooding in Tennessee (there was a house floating down my normal route across I-24) forced us to take the I-75 route where we ran into storms and tornado sightings throughout Georgia. It’s normally a 12-13 hour drive that took us 17 looooong hours. It was truly a trip to remember. (Like I’m EVAH going to do THAT again!!)
Armed with my camera while at the beach, those pesky neighbors posed for a few shots while wading in the warm gulf water. As soon as the photo below came out of the camera, I laughed out loud. Just as a wave hit them from behind, the shutter clicked.

Her site says, “I am a wanna-be. A Wanna-Be Photographer. One of these days, with lots of help from family and friends, I hope to move from wanna-be to I AM.”
Kristie Farmer is sharing some pretty awesome photos on her blog site for a wanna be. I’m thinking she already is!
