Yesterday was a crazy busy day. So busy that I didn’t have time to read the news I normally get delivered to my RSS reader. Before totally shutting down for the night (technically morning), I start reading headlines. No wonder I can’t sleep at night. News is scary. And depressing.
What’s wrong with people?
I get it that some people are rude and stupid. And even pushy or mean to the bone. What I don’t get are crimes against children. Anyone that neglects or harms a child (in my opinion) is the worst kind of animal. I read all the Casey Anthony stuff, and about missing Haleigh Dunn, and Haleigh Cummings and ::insert a bajillion other instances here::… and then I read the Indy headlines (image above) and wonder what in the flipping world is wrong with people? I wouldn’t leave my dog (sorry Libby) locked in a cold car outside the house and she’s covered with a warm coat of hair. Naked? Are you kidding me?
I’m willing to bet the drunk 24-year-old woman will get charged, taxpayers will provide a public defender, social workers will step in at no cost to her, she will get probation and drug/alcohol counseling, and she’ll get her children back. I’m sorry, kids aren’t always best served by being placed back in the home with the biological parent. I wonder if news headlines would be different if the RULE was to place a child for adoption into a loving home — and the EXCEPTION was the parent would regain custody.
And, it’s 3 degrees!
That’s really cold, kids. One member of our office team took a quick flight out, racing against Mother Nature to the west coast. Where it’s warm. This member of the office team (after several interesting delays) is now in sunny California. Call it work. Whatevah…
So this same office team member sends me a text message from the plane and asks, “So how much snow did you get?”
My reply, “Enough.”
