Heading north today for Coty’s post-birthday celebration, but I know there’s a ton of good stuff you missed last week, so here’s a wrap-up:
For the guys:
$1 Shave Club — the commercial says it all
For the ladies (and some guys too):
Live penguin cam — seriously! (And they NEVER shut up either.)
So on the above link to Discovery, I’m watching and listening to the cranky penguins and I see a GAME link… Criminal Penguins. So I play it. Twice. The second game I score like 22k.
“I’m awesome!“, I say just loud enough for me to hear.
And then, I check the high-score board. Someone scored higher than me!! Like over 3 million higher. Just check out the cam — skip the game.
And, you know how a while back I had a video of Amber and my granddaughter, Coco, singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’? This isn’t as good, but it’s funnier. Henry Dagg performs the song with cats and the youtube video has captured over 128k viewers. That proves people like fake cats more than cute, real babies.
And because I always post a photo, this one came right from Facebook:

Birthday boy had 5 pieces of cake on his birthday. Another 2, maybe 3, yesterday. Today? Mark Pi’s is his restaurant of choice. Good thing their food is better than their website.

Life is hard. Right? And sometimes we think it’s easier just to give up. Are you a quitter or a whiner? Maybe you just blame others because you just don’t ever seem to get what it is you want.
Or… you could just be determined enough to be extraordinary no matter what!

Class reunion photo taken in 2002 with a digital wonder!
The first digital camera I purchased was cutting edge. I was the very first person I knew that owned one and strutted around with it like I was the queen of photography! It was a small, rectangular little box that had no zoom capability but sported a whopping 1.3 megapixel sensor. I can’t find one photo that was taken with that first POS (that I thought at the time was amazing!), to share, but I DO have a perfect example of a photo taken with one of its predecessors — it’s on the left, and YES, it’s displayed at 100% in size.
I look at that photo today — 10 years later — and it seems to be about the size of a postage stamp with such poor quality that some of the people are barely distinguishable — even if you know who they are. But at the time, it was… again… amazing. And to remind you, in 2002, we didn’t have blazing cable speeds or 30″ computer monitors. We had craptastic dial-up and monitors that didn’t display a bajillion colors. Even with today’s iPhone, you’re walking around with instant access to a camera with 8-megapixel resolution, a custom lens with f/2.4 aperture, auto white balance, advanced color accuracy, and reduced motion blur.

I took the photo above with my phone out the windshield of the car because I thought all those birds up there were posing just for me — and, I had to reduce the image size so it fits within the layout here. So I wonder… and I hope you’re wondering too… what will digital photography be like 10 years from now? It’s said the human eye can “see” 576 megapixels of available image data, but can’t distinguish between 300 dpi and 150 dpi. How much better can it really get?

Storm ravaged Henryville, Indiana, has a friend, and its name is Tide.
When you pick up your next bottle of laundry detergent, remember… it could be you wishing for a friend like TIDE!

If you’re wondering what you can do to help, local funeral home (Adams Funeral Homes & Crematory) owner and high maintenance friend, Mark Adams, and his lovely wife, Leslie, and awesome sister, Buffy are organizing an extremely thoughtful project — ‘Backpacks for Henryville’. Think about the kids… if their home was damaged/lost, so was their school supplies. And, we all KNOW what happened to their school. If you can help, just click the link and see exactly what is really needed. BACKPACKS 4 HENRYVILLE

If you truly want to be miserable, set overwhelming goals to be accomplished tomorrow. Judging by my work-load, the economy is improving. Me on the happiness scale? Dropping…
Libby was much happier too when there was more time for walks outside, and reminded me of that today when the thermometer hit 65 degrees. We took that walk. Don’t let Libby’s gray hair fool ya. She’s still got it goin’ on! She used that round voluptuous body to drag me down the road for more than 50% of the way. I only went because she made me, but was so glad I did!

And for just a bit of trivia today… Apple named the all-time TOP App Store Apps. C’mon and guess #1 for paid, and #1 for free. Yup. You’re right! Angry Birds (paid) and Facebook (free). Check out the list.
