On thy grave the rain shall fall

May 28, 2012

Memorial Day is the one day Americans pull together to honor all those who have died at war, fighting for our country.

Reading through all the comments on Facebook, I wonder how many know the difference between Veterans Day (celebrating the service of ALL US military veterans) and Memorial Day (a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving).

I am truly proud of everyone I know that served in the military or continue to serve — and extremely grateful. I am appreciative.

However, I do not know of anyone in my family, nor do I personally know anyone that died at war. I’m not posting photos of my Dad and others in uniform today because this isn’t the day for that. It’s Memorial Day.

Instead, I will share (again) the Crothersville Memorial board that was located next to the old Garriotts Garage and shoe store. The photo is of Mike Seal (left) and Don Gatewood (right) taken near 1945.
