Last of the work completed to fix my cable connectivity problem and I’m back online just in time to wish my Mom a very happy birthday!
I mention Mom a lot here, mostly things she said (over and over) when I was a kid that are still stuck in my head. All those ‘Mom knows best’ items are what I have a tendency to share. You know, those things said you don’t really think that much about until you’re an adult — and find out what truly important lessons they were intended to teach. One thing in particular she always preached to us that I probably haven’t mentioned, (that I’ve heard my brother, Scott, tell), is how Mom was always worried we were wearing clean underwear when left the house. Her reasoning was… if we were in an accident, that one thing would become important. Seriously Mom?
My Mom is now a great-grandmother and still doesn’t look or seem as old as her years. I think that’s pretty cool. It’s funny when she references people much younger with comments like, “I don’t like hanging around old people”, and spends time online doing what she calls “picking blackberries” on her Blackberry Playbook. Just like my brother who can’t put his iPhone down even during dinner, Mom has to have her Playbook out even during a birthday celebration.
