the rooster next door

Sep 28, 2012

I’m not sure what inspired the neighbors (not the pesky ones) to want chickens, but they did. Obviously. I have to watch the dogs when they’re outside because to be quite frank — they HATE chickens. I think there’s only three total so it’s not like there’s a chicken army next door, but these birds also are free to roam quite a bit and often wander into the acre of ground between my house and their coop. My bedroom is on the west side of house which of course, is closest to where the young rooster sleeps. When he wakes me up with his pathetic crow I snicker. He’s not yet developed his style and it’s more of a yodel of some sort as opposed to any cock-a-doodle-do I’ve ever heard. They joys of living in rural America. Y’all.
