At about 14 years-old I had braces and my orthodontist was in Louisville. That meant monthly appointments and monthly trips to a city with a visit to the mall. Prior to that, my shopping experiences consisted of JC Penneys in Seymour (located 12 miles north of my home at the time) and the grocery store. It was a big deal to go to the Greentree Mall and eat lunch at Walgreens even though my Mom is one of THOSE shoppers. You know the ones… they hold up every single item up in a store and say, “Do you like this?”
I can’t imagine what I would’ve thought about Ikea at 8 years-old, but Colette thinks it’s great fun.
The display rooms are sort of like playhouses and they have some pretty cool stuff to buy. She came home with a couple stuffed rats, a pillow made from the same material as her beloved stuffed animal, Piggy, and even ate the middle out of some pink dessert shaped like an igloo.
And to think… I was thrilled with a club sandwich from Walgreens!
