Every grandparent thinks their grandchild is the ultimate — the very best child on the planet earth. If you’re a grandparent, you think that… admit it. I’m no different.
I have only one. Colette/Coco is the total package (in my eyes anyway). Smart, witty, creative, and so very tender-hearted. I stopped by her house simply to pick up a cordless drill. I hugged her and listened to her animatedly tell about the craft project she was working on. She was distracted and I was too — and she didn’t realize I’d left until about 10 minutes later.
My phone rang while I was in the grocery store and her Dad asked if I was already home. I explained that I wasn’t and he asked if I would come back by. I figured they wanted me to pick something up from the store, but then heard Coco crying in the background because she didn’t get to hug me goodbye. Although it hurt my heart, I asked if I could pick her up the next day for a trip to Orange Leaf and get two hugs — it was already after 9:00 PM. Her response, “I can’t wait another second to hug you, Nana.”
I finished my shopping like it was a fire drill and promptly went to get my hug. I also got this (after pulling tabs and tearing a make-shift envelope)…
So awesome that she also got that trip to Orange Leaf the following day. 🙂
