neighborhood watch… doing our part

Mar 19, 2021

Every community needs a neighborhood watch and we’re doing our part to keep our slice of the US safe. Our home security system consists of a fierce team of protectors that stand ready to greet intruders, alarm neighbors of any foul play, and let me know when to check the video feeds of our multiple security cameras.

I should be able to rest easy… sleep like a baby. I’m certainly not afraid or anxious about anything. But for whatever reason, I don’t sleep! My Mamma tells me that as a kid, I required a full night’s rest. She says my brother was less sleep-needy but I wanted my own bed and at least 8-hours in it.

What happened?

I exercise every single day. I cut off caffeine early. I take Tylenol PM often, and have tried sleep gummies and breathing/relaxation techniques. Still, the older I get the less I sleep.

If I’m fortunate enough to live as long as my Nanny did, I’ll likely take a couple 10-minute catnaps over a 24-hour period and call that good enough. 🙂

TIL (Today I Learned): Stevie Nicks wrote the Fleetwood Mac song “Dreams” in about 10 minutes. The rest of the band disliked the song, with Christine McVie calling it “boring.” Nicks begged them to record it and they eventually relented. It is the band’s only US number one single.

As an aside… the best Facebook birthday wish I received was from a classmate and good friend, Dennis Sipe. His message was perfect for my birthday because it brought back fond memories of our high school friendship — and was a sweet reminder of a time before adulthood and responsibilities.
