Teddy Bear’s grass choice was a bad decision

Apr 5, 2021

My Oura Ring said I should take it easy today. Said I needed time to recover and recharge my energy levels. Set my goal at 250 for today. Did I listen? Ummm… nope! Instead of 250, I ended the day at 1120 and almost 19,000 steps. I did this by working in the yard. All. Day. Long.

Teddy Bear (my Great Uncle that owned this place before me) had the entire yard replanted and reworked at some point. He chose some grass type that is total crap, you guys. In the spring it looks dead. Grave yard dead… like it will never grow. He also had it fertilized with chicken poop that still attracts some wicked bugs… but that’s a story for a different day.

first time to mow in 2021

No matter what the Oura Ring advised, the yard had to be mowed and weedeated. The flower beds and pots with mums already growing in a pretty green had to be weeded. The limbs leftover from the tree removal and all the dead leaves it left behind had to be raked and picked up. The first yardwork of the year always sucks, and today was the first for 2021.

I may need a crane to get out of bed in the morning.

I could barely hold my phone to take a photo after wielding a weed whacker for hours. But I did it just for y’all since tulips don’t last very long. Thanks, Teddy Bear, for planting them right next to the fence in the middle of nowhere. 😉

TIL (Today I Learned): Walt Disney accidentally “kidnapped” Richard Nixon by dispatching his monorail train before the Secret Service could get on. The agents ran after the train and attempted to jump onboard but the doors had already closed. Read about it here…
