it’s mow before snow day!

Apr 20, 2021

The Cub Cadet I use to mow the front yard gets the job accomplished quickly. Purchased to mow over an acre, it chews up the grass at this place in record time. But because it’s a PIA to open the one side gate big enough to get it in the back yard, it’s easier just to push mow back there. Besides, I love wading through the dog poop I missed when picking up the monster turds.

So that’s what’s on my agenda today besides regular work. I’ll likely be doing it in a sweatshirt because it’s barely going to get 60° F by late afternoon.

But I must mow before snow!

mow before snow

That’s right! I said SNOW… near the end of April. But it’s Indiana, you guys. There’s a reason people that live in this fine state know not to plant flowers until after Derby Day — this year it’s on May 1st — unless you want to cover them for protection against frost.

In other news, some say half of all the people in the US have now had at least one COVID vaccine. The Washington Post says that number is more like 40%. Either way, it’s moving upward. The bad news is… we have 14 states back in the red insofar as severity. Florida is one of those states. Nevada and Indiana are orange.

Jackson County, per covidactnow.org, is more vulnerable than 68% of all US counties with 31% of the population having received at least one dose. Ben gets his 2nd vaccine tomorrow and Perry is scheduled for Saturday.

TIL (Today I Learned): In 1995 U.S. Congress attempted to deny foreign aid to Turkey. The mayor of Izmir, Turkey banned the sale of Dole bananas. He believed that then-Senate Majority Leader, Bob Dole, owned the fruit company. 🙄
