It’s a gloomy, rainy Monday morning and my motivation didn’t show up for work today. My first cup of coffee has yet to kick in and I’m not sure it’s going to. I need a weekend do-over.
I’ve read articles about how to get motivated on Monday mornings and snickered over Lifehack‘s suggestions..
- Go to sleep early on Sunday. It’s a little late for that now.
- Prepare your schedule ahead. Some people can actually DO that?
- Find the right attire for work. Seriously?
A recent study reported that Mondays are so awful for employees that they’re only productive for about 3.5 hours the entire day. That’s my goal for today! Three and one-half hours of productive work. And at least one hour of that will be spent planting tomatoes (for the first time ever) in bags.
My cousin, Jerilyn, retired (again) on Friday. Not long ago I thought that would never be me. I enjoyed my job and figured I’d be doing what I do from my wheelchair at 105. The pandemic popped that balloon. Although I still don’t think retirement is a fit for me right now — it is looking better all the time.
But what if… like Jeanne Calment, I lived another 60 years? What would I do with all my time? That leads to TIL (Today I Learned):
Good ole’ Jeanne lived 122 years and 164 days. She smoked until she lost her sight and couldn’t see to light her own smoke. She drank coffee for breakfast instead of eating a meal and often consumed over 2 pounds of chocolate a week.
