I’m not a fan of country music but because the rest of my family was and is, my exposure to the genre is vast. Fitting now that this country song keeps popping in my head that Merle Haggard recorded — “Are the Good Times Really Over.” So my question for today is… Are we rollin’ down hill like a snowball headed for hell?
I have people I know personally that are COVID-19 positive that have been vaccinated. Unless something changes pretty darn fast, mask mandates are coming back, you guys.
While Apple and others are bringing back mask requirements across the US, currently, Wal-mart is requiring employees to wear masks only in high-risk level counties. While some counties in Indiana fall into this category, Jackson County is at 0.5 and Jefferson County (where Perry works in Madison) is at 1 — that’s according to ISDH. You can shop in those stores without a mask… but if you go to Scottsburg you have to put one on.
Think of it just like how Mr. Pesky says he’s going to have to water his garden because it’s so dry, and a mere 14 miles north of him we had rain.
But wait! No longer than it took me to type the above, Madison Wal-mart is now requiring masks.
Israel will begin offering vaccine #3 to people over 60 and Australia is calling in its military to help enforce a lockdown in Sydney. Florida is a hot spot for rising cases — Floridians account for about 1 in 5 of the new cases nationwide. CDC just reversed testing advice for fully-vaccinated people. Previously they advised testing only for those symptomatic — now they say even if you’re fully vaccinated you should be tested even if you’ve only potentially been exposed.
So what say you?
At what point is the spread of a virus more about personal responsibility and less about government control? I don’t know the answer… and if I gave you my opinion now it might change by evening. I don’t want meetings to end — that’s for sure. And I don’t want to worry about my granddaughter getting sick with school starting next week or my Mom dying because people wouldn’t simply get the vaccine to stop the spread.
On the other hand, I look at government officials from the local level all the way up and for SURE don’t want them making decisions for me. Add to that the difficulty for us to make an informed decision on our own based upon the information and misinformation the media is feeding us.
Merida says you should do what you think is best and not judge others for their choices. She’s going to continue going maskless.
Dharma, on the other hand, is waiting for someone to simply tell her what she should do…
Are you a Merida or a Dharma? Somewhere in between?
TIL (Today I Learned): The gentle lullaby, Rock-A-Bye Baby, stems from the scandalous familial drama surrounding King James II’s first son. Rumor had it the King and his second wife, Mary of Modena, arranged to take in someone else’s baby and presented him as their male heir.
