Does anyone really understand the numbers?

Aug 24, 2021

I’ve said all along that I’m not 100% on board with the data supplied to Americans regarding COVID-19. The reason I often share the statistics is because they show if positive tests for COVID are going up or down… and I can figure out that red is worse than yellow insofar as risk.

CNN’s website with COVID statistics says the % infected in Jackson County, IN is 12.57%. That seems reasonable (give or take 3-5%). While I sure loathe CNN, their data is presented in an easy to understand manner and is relatively believable based on where the info compiled is derived from.

Currently, based on CNN’s compilation from John Hopkins and the US Census Bureau… 12.31% of Hoosiers are infected; 14.91% of Floridians are infected; and 12.95 of Nevadans are infected. And we still have unvaccinated migrants flowing into the US while vaccinated Canadians are being kept out. 🙄

More numbers to understand…

One-hundred five! That’s the heat index for today in my slice of the world. We’re under a heat advisory that’s likely not going to let up in the next couple days. Of course, Ben’s A/C decided to take a dump last night and he’s sweating this morning. It’s always something, isn’t it?

Today, even Merida prefers inside to outside…

Merida prefers to be inside where it's cool

TIL (Today I Learned): American baseball player Rube Waddell (1876-1914) was so fond of puppies, fans of the opposing team would bring their dogs to games and hold them up. Waddell would run over to play with them instead of focusing on the game.
