Ben tested positive for COVID on Friday (3/11/22). He started feeling bad on Thursday evening, but since he just had a sore/scratchy throat he didn’t think he needed to test. Feeling worse on Friday, he was here after school to pick one up. Yes, I met him outside and handed him the box like he had the plague.
For the record, your kid can be 75 and it doesn’t matter when they’re sick. They are still your baby.
He has trouble sleeping but wants to do nothing but sleep. He complains of his face “hurting.” Says his eyes hurt but no headache. He’s congested but not coughing — he sounds like he has a horrible cold. He’s hot and cold constantly.
Here are the current rules for the rest of us as per the CDC… you know, those of us that have been exposed to Mr. COVID Positive.
Why now?
Interesting that my immediate family has gone this long without anyone getting sick except for Colette. Ben dodged the bullet when taking care of her while contagious, and Perry works in a hot bed of germs and has avoided getting sick. We assumed Coco picked up the virus from school or while at her Mom’s. You can be careful when outside of your own home, but when anyone in your circle has exposure of any kind it really doesn’t matter.
Being vaccinated, boosted, and careful simply isn’t enough.
I understand the concept of “building up of immunity,” but still I question it. Two vaccines and a booster, a week caring for a COVID sick human at home breathing their air, and there’s not enough immunity in your system to keep you healthy even when you’re rarely around others? It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
I told a friend in Australia I wanted to wrap Mom in a plastic bubble. His reply made me feel better. He said, “I am sure your Mom will be fine. She didn’t get to 90 by being weak.” And he has no idea. NO. IDEA. 😉
What’s more positive than a positive test?
Look at the happy face in the photo below… it’s upbeat and extraordinarily positive. What a happy puppy!
Perry brought home “indestructible” piggies for the hounds. I got one photo of Dharma with hers before Merida tore them up. 🙄 Sad, right? Siblings (and sometimes your own kids) are a pain.
Even if you received free COVID tests previously, don’t forget all US households are eligible to receive another box of 4 tests free. Order yours at: covidtests.gov.
