barn living is not for everyone

Sep 18, 2022

I only miss 3 things about Seymour and the Seymour house. They are:

  1. Grocery delivery
  2. A linen closet
  3. A utility closet

Yee Haw!

Living in a barn is a whole lot different than living in a brick house in a nice neighborhood. I don’t miss wood floors because I simply don’t care about that stuff anymore. I’ve never been a fan of neighbors so that’s a plus for living here too. I wouldn’t mind to have the concrete driveway from there as opposed to the gravel here, but it’s not a big deal.

A few years ago at the Seymour house, we hung a bird feeder in a tree in our yard. The next day it was on the ground. We hung it back up… then it was down again. Not long afterward, the neighbors let us know they didn’t like it — said birds in our yard created messes in their pool. 💩

No one to complain about birds around here…

Hummingbirds are amazing, aren’t they? They’re so quick! The little stinkers will hover right in front of us and don’t seem to be afraid. The little guy above was just sitting right behind me guarding the feeder. His (or her) mom skipped the lessons about sharing.

TIL (Today I Learned): Hummingbirds live 3-5 years and do not migrate in groups. They routinely attain speeds of 30 mph and flap their wings more than 80 times a second while hovering.
