i get 7 minutes more on weekends

Oct 21, 2022

Still a fan of the OURA ring, I read my progress report this morning to find that I only get 7 minutes more sleep per night on weekends than I do on weekdays. I’m pretty sure that’s a sign of old age. I remember the days I couldn’t wait for Saturday so I could sleep till noon.

That was a time BEFORE I had hounds that wanted breakfast at dawn and I had windows covered in dog spit to clean. 🙂

i can't sleep in because of dogs

I also found that I average 5 h and 17 min of sleep per night and my average bedtime is 1:34 AM. If early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise… what does it make a woman who goes to bed late and rises early? I’m guessing it makes them tired, coffee wired, and slow.

The Pesky Neighbors need a new name.

I got a text this morning of the spread being prepared today and it all sounds AMAZING. This is AFTER they delivered this yesterday…

persimmon pudding

Carl did most of the labor intense aspects of preparation and Mom did the creative details. The team of two need to open for business. Instead of a “food truck” they can advertise a “foot Fit” (because of their Honda Fit) — but even using a restaurant name generator, the best I got was “ROUND BODY CANTEEN.” (Yes, I laughed at that one.)😁

Persimmon Pudding is my favorite.

I don’t know what recipe Mom uses. I no longer have Nanny’s recipe but she was the queen of the dessert. My Aunt Shirley’s recipe is the only one I have… and I’m not sure if she got it from Nanny or not. Maybe it’s the one Mom uses. No matter, here it is — and you can pick up persimmons at the Pesky’s.

Mix 2c pulp
2 eggs beaten
1/2 stick melted butter,
2c sugar,
1 1/2 c buttermilk.

Mix well.

Add 1 1/2 c flour,
1 1/2 tsp b.pwd,
1/2 tsp soda,
1/8 tsp salt,
1/2 tsp cinnamon.

Mix well.

Bake in a greased and lightly floured 13×9 pan.
Bake at 350 for 45min-1hr.

TIL (Today I Learned): During the 2000’s, Google, Apple, Adobe, Intel, and several other mega corporations had a mutual agreement not to hire each other’s employees in order to keep salaries low. This led to a 400 mil class action lawsuit.
