Mom: Can you see your black dog?
Me: (Turns around and looks right at Merida) Yes.
Mom: Are you sure?
Me: Ummm… yah I’m sure. She’s on the couch.
Mom: There’s a dog running loose that looks just like her.

Phone rings 10 minutes later…

NaLona: Tiffany (the girl that bought the Villa is her friend) has Merida.
Me: Merida’s in the house. It’s not her.
NaLona: Are you sure?
Me: Ummm… yah I’m sure. She’s on the couch.
NaLona: Tiffany knocked on your door and said she didn’t think you were home.
Me: She probably knocked on the front door that leads to the garage part of the barndo.
NaLona: So it’s not Merida?
Me: 😐

I’ve seen Merida’s doppelganger too.

Merida would love to get out and run and smell and pester everyone she could find for attention. Thing is, she’d probably get flattened on the road within 15 minutes. Dogs are like kids in that there are things they’d love to do but because you want to keep them safe, you don’t let them do it. (Reminds me of the time Ben and his friends wanted to jump off the garage roof into the pool. You can’t do that.)

Someone in my neck of the woods has a beautiful black lab they obviously care nothing about. I know it’s a male because he comes up to my fence where my dogs are and hikes his leg in an attempt to pee on them. His owners obviously don’t care because he’s been running the area for days now.

I REALLY appreciate people letting me know they think it’s Merida on the loose. You never know what might happen that could allow her to escape. I would definitely want to know because this road — let alone US 31 — isn’t safe for hound dogs. Cars FLY and I saw a big tractor outfit yesterday that was going at least 40 mph.

Be safe out there doppelganger! 😥
