it’s time to get out the fancy dinnerware!

Jul 6, 2023

Yesterday was a near-perfect day in my book. FINALLY sunshine without rain. I spent about the entire day outside starting at sunrise. If y’all know me, you know that’s a rarity. 🙂 I began the day cutting honeysuckle to put in a vase on the table.

Next came work… but even that made me feel accomplished!

I’ve been babying my back, but today the little outside things being neglected simply bugged me too much to ignore. I figure if I do a little per day in the mornings, I can get a handle on it.

I grabbed a shovel and a rake and smoothed out the ground between the new deck and the HVAC units. Yes, I worked up a sweat and may need a crane to get out of bed in the morning.

So I cooled off in the pool — don’t tell my boss any of this BTW.

Floating in the pool with a back that’s currently in perilous shape, I figured I could weed eat just a small area. When I finished trimming around the new deck and the area I leveled, I kept going around the flowers along the west side of the barndo IN MY BATHING SUIT. You guys… no way would I EVER be able to do that in Seymour. EVER.

That’s when I spotted Mr. Agelenopsis Kastoni (as per Google Lens).

But then the BEST thing happened! I ate my first ripe tomato of the season!

Those pesky neighbors showed up with this massive tomato from their garden and said it was the first ripe one. I noticed though, that the next time they mentioned it being first, they said it was the first “big tomato.” That tells me the sly devils have been eating little ones without telling me! When confronted, Mr. Pesky admitted as much but acted like they really weren’t any good — or the yellow ones I’m not fond of. 😏

In the words of Peppa Pig’s dad, Daddy Pig… “those cheeky little piggies.”
