taking a bath is ruff on some

Jul 7, 2023

Merida is afraid of the water but she needed a bath. I got everything together I thought I’d need. She was excited when I put the leash on her but started back-peddling the second we turned into the bathroom. She’s head strong. So am I.

It took 3 tries for me to get her picked up and in the tub of waiting water, but once in there she didn’t try to get out. Maybe because she was still hacking from choking herself with the leash. I forgot to get a tall glass for water pouring since she’s afraid of the shower head, so I dumped out the glass container that held around 100 q-tips on the floor.

No photos of this exercise in determination exist because I didn’t want to risk drowning a phone. 😉

Once finished, I didn’t have to lift her out of the tub. When I told her she was free to get out, she bounded up like the water was fire. That’s when the zoomies started. Once I got her toweled off a bit, she took out of there like a jet. The bathroom looked like someone had turned a hose on inside.

Poor Dharma LOVES water and wanted to take a bath!

Thing is… I didn’t have it in me to do 2 dogs at one time. She was heartbroken.

TIL (Today I Learned): The reason you feel sleepy after swimming is a process known as vasodilation. This is when your blood vessels dilate so the blood can flow closer to your skin’s surface. What this does is allow you to cool down as heat is released. It’s another internal process that uses up more energy, and this could also make you feel tired.
