There’s proper etiquette for speaking about weight? Uh oh.

Aug 4, 2023

I read an article today by Reader’s Digest that said you shouldn’t avoid conversations about weight, but there’s proper etiquette to follow if you choose to talk about it. I sure hope no one ever has access to the text messages shared in our “fat girls” group! Every single one is about weight and/or food and we aren’t always kind to one another. 😉

Yesterday was weigh-in day — one month down with 2 to go for the “fat girls” project. Two more months of this shit if someone doesn’t wave the white flag. That someone won’t be me! I lost the most again this week. Woot!

Walking isn’t just for treadmills!

I typically walk at least an hour on the treadmill daily at a pretty brisk pace. For the past few days, I’ve also been hitting the road with the Pesky Neighbors. Mom gets steps in going from the house to her red convertible — and if she needs extra steps to close the rings on her Apple Watch, she’ll walk for a bit while Carl cheers her on from the seat of her ride.

“Real walking” (as opposed to walking on a treadmill) is different, for sure. The neurosurgeon that fixed my back 8 or so years ago told me not to do inclines. Always walking on a flat surface at an even pace is a LOT easier than walking outside in the real world. The little bit of uphill grade on this road might as well be a mountain so far as my back is concerned.

Getting started is the hardest part.

Now would be a great time to mention that I HATE to exercise. With a passion I hate it… every form of it. If there’s one thing I can promise you, it’s this:

It’s harder to START exercising than it is to continue doing it.

If you haven’t yet started a fitness journey, today is a good day to begin. Exercise looks different for everyone — as evidenced by Momma Pesky. And no matter how hard it feels to start… it gets easier once you form a habit. Still not fun (at least not for me), but easier just the same.

Warm weekend incoming for the Ville!

The best news ever is that ALL MY MINI-SPLIT AIR UNITS ARE WORKING! It took about 3 months but they are finally fixed. I can’t tell you how excited — and relieved — I am to be back to normal without needing everything new. Don’t call before 10:00 AM because I’ll be getting the first night of good sleep in a cool room since last February. 😉

Useless fact of the day: Just two of Dolly Parton’s songs (“Jolene” and “9 to 5”) gross between $6 million to $8 million per year in royalties.
