ai is scary… and are we ready for a world without google?

Aug 30, 2023

Google has been around for about 25-years, and recently, the number of complaints about its accuracy is growing. With the rise of massive closed algorithmic social networks like Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and now TikTok, people aren’t as dedicated to Google search as they once were. Matter of fact, TikTok is now being used as the primary search engine by the new generation of internet users.

So many people are so easy to manipulate – so users manipulate what they see/read.

Google has a 25-year history of a battle against users who want to manipulate what pages rank at the top in searches. Then there’s Google bombing — a good example is when a 3 person team linked to a webpage selling pro-George Bush merchandise and was able to make it the top Google result if you searched for “dumb motherfucker.” 😬😂

Now you have OpenAI’s hugely successful ChatGPT — and Google’s in a race against Microsoft to build a different kind of search that’s supported by generative AI.  We’ve only seen the beginning of what’s yet to come…

The fraud economy is fueled by AI.

Were you aware that AI is able to create masks from social media photos that can penetrate facial recognition security features? And, did you know that AI-generated children’s voices have become so realistic, they can effectively fool their own parents when asking for money? Per Monday.com research, US consumers lost $8.8 billion to financial fraud last year (before AI took off), up 44% from 2021, and cybercrime costs worldwide are set to grow to $10.5 trillion by 2025.

The pesky neighbor’s have a garden… is it real or is it AI?

I only wish there were as many red tomatoes left on the vines as in the AI generated image. No complaints though! I’ve already consumed a bajillion of those big ole’ tomatoes I love so much!

Blue Supermoon Fail:

I was never able to get a photo of last night’s blue supermoon (a combination of both a blue moon and a super moon together in one night only occurs every 10 years). The trees here blocked the view. Mr. Pesky did a pretty good job and you can even see the barndo… and we have one last chance to catch it tonight.

Now you know: A penguin in Scotland was just promoted to major general by His Majesty the King’s Guard of Norway.
