chicken poop and spiders: country living is not for the weak

Oct 12, 2023

A quick trip outside with the puppies early morning — while everything was still covered in a frosty dew — I noticed how many spider webs are hanging around close to the barndo.

We have spider webs EVERYWHERE!

I’m sure it has something to do with all the prey our outside lights haul in for them.

Breathing chicken poop probably isn’t going to help my congested chest any.

Since harvest is complete, Rex is working on his fields before winter and had huge piles of chicken poop delivered. High in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, chicken poop is great fertilizer — better than horse, cow, or steer manure. I can’t smell it yet, but I expect to.

I have no clue how much dust spreading the stuff will cause, but I’m guessing there will be some nasty stuff floating in the air once the process is in full swing.

Remember the Green Acres TV show?

The opening and closing theme song is memorable with Eddie Albert wanting the farm life while his wife, Eva Gabor, wanted to stay in her deluxe NYC apartment. She gets allergic smelling hay and he claims the air is fresh. They both have valid points.

Rural living has fresh air MOST OF THE TIME, while other times allergies are brought on by that same air. No matter how much it smells like chicken shit here over the coming days, it still beats living in a city. Sorry, Eva. 🙂

Now you know: In 2012, an Indian nurse looking after Kate Middleton was prank called by a radio station pretending to be the Queen. This led to her revealing confidential information which was then broadcast on the radio. 3 days later, she committed suicide by hanging.
