dangerously cold arctic air is coming to the ville

Jan 10, 2024

It was windy and rainy for almost the entire day yesterday here in the outskirts of the Ville. It wasn’t just dainty rain either — at times, it was the hard, pouring kind. Dogs still need to go out and and that leads to wet dog stink. ARG!

Compared to what’s coming, rain at 50 degrees is not so bad.

High winds (up to 40mph gusts) combined with dog stink is bad, but we’re under a weather warning for Sunday to Friday. If that system materializes, it will be a whole lot worse.

Wind chill temps from -10 to -25 are forecasted! That’s below zero, y’all. I’m confident in the ability to stay warm here at the barndo, but I sure worry about people and pets when it’s so frigid.

My practice retirement time off will soon be only a memory. 😩

I’m supposed to start back to “real” work next Monday. I was dreading it, but since today was crazy busy and I’m not getting paid AND I survived, I guess I won’t yet throw in the towel. But I sure want to.

I’m happy for my friends that have retired — and I’m happy for those who love their jobs and don’t dream about it. I just wish I could join one or the other instead of staying here on this fence.

Now you know: Alaska is roughly about one-fifth the size of the entire United States mainland (contiguous). If overlaid onto a map, Alaska would stretch from the West Coast to the East Coast
