Sharing just one area of the barndo’s home improvement landscaping today, but there’s more to come. One other area is done, but I’m saving it for later because my body refuses to simply walk outside to take a photo of the ‘after.’
That 48 foot area beside the sidewalk was the first to get a facelift.
I’d already started pulling weeds before I remembered to take a photo. The image below looks awful, I know, but it started out even worse!
Last spring, we had so many ongoing projects (pool, decks, hot tub, etc.) that landscaping was set for this spring. We pulled weeds and refreshed the mulch a bit last year, but it was the minimal upkeep version that really can’t be called landscaping.
To say the ‘after’ is an upgrade would be an understatement.
There’s still grass to plant but we’re saving that task for last. Today, I plan to stack the remainder of the wood pile to use in the solo stove for the summer and fall. The wood boiler will be retired until next winter. Scalding hot water for days… I’m sure gonna miss you. 😔
Once those last 2 things are finished, the east side of the barndo will be complete (for the most part) and will only require upkeep.
Only 3 more sides to go. Sure hope my body lasts throughout the duration of this project.
Now you know: The band, Iron Butterfly, didn’t know they were being recorded in the studio for 17 minutes when they played their now-hit song, “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”; it went on to sell 30 million copies.
**In case you’re old and want to reminisce — here’s the recording on youtube. Take a step further and listen to another oldie but goodie… this one’s a surprise — also on youtube.
