My sweet Momma blew out one candle on her birthday cake yesterday. I didn’t opt for a big cake with a lot of candles because no one over the age of 65 wants a reminder of how old they are, right? She didn’t want her photo taken because she hadn’t fixed her hair. I did it anyway. (I may get grounded for this one.)

She closes the exercise rings on her Apple Watch about every day — probably more often than I do. I may be a homebody, but I didn’t get that from her (that is likely passed to me from Nanny). She loves to go more than anyone I know… except for Mr. Pesky.

Colette had a June birthday too!
Her cake wasn’t really cake — but it was memorable. She wasn’t here this year on her birthday, and she’d already had her celebration and opened the gifts from her Dad. Still, I wanted her to know her Nana recognized her special day.

Now you know: Hetty Green, also called the “witch of Wall Street,” was incredibly rich, yet she continued to live in inexpensive lodgings, avoiding any display of wealth and seeking medical treatment for herself at charity clinics. On her death in 1916, Green left an estate of more than $100,000,000.
