It’s horribly hot and humid in my slice of the world right now. And… it’s not supposed to get any better until next weekend. It was over 80° before 9:00 AM this morning per my outside thermometer that’s in the shade.

I’m watering my flowers twice a day.
The dew was extra heavy when I ventured out this morning. The grass is still growing like crazy and I’m not sure I even need to water my plants twice a day. But here I am… pulling the water hose out and giving everything a drink just to be sure I don’t lose anything to the extreme heat.

I’m also playing the shade game.
To help with cooling the inside, I’m playing the shade game. You know… pulling the shades down on the east windows during the morning hours, and pulling the shades down on the west side in the afternoons. They say that makes a difference, and I’m sure it does. It doesn’t mean I have to like sitting in a darkened room when I would much rather see outside from my computer spot in the office.
The dogs here play the shade game too in their own way. For some reason, all 3 of them want to take up space under my desk leaving zero room for my feet. I have to be so careful not to move my chair for fear of running over one of them. It’s like they box me in!
While my dogs have it made, I worry about outside pets when it’s so hot. 😞
Now you know: A sunfish in a Japanese aquarium became so lonely after the aquarium closed to visitors for renovations that it stopped eating. Only after staff placed photos of people’s faces near its tank did the sunfish perk up and start eating again.
