You no doubt have watched/read coverage about the cruise ship, a Dutch-flagged expedition cruise, where a cluster of hantavirus cases have been reported.
The Andes virus strain…
Passing the Andes virus from one human to another can happen with prolonged close contact, but it’s rare. The CDC has classified the response level as 3. That means the CDC is actively tracking the outbreak, although the overall risk to the general public remains low.
Not gonna’ lie, although I love a cruise, I can’t imagine being isolated in my cabin (they aren’t great spaces, y’all) for such a prolonged number of days. And the Carnival ship where over 100 people were sick with the Norovirus? I’ve had that — and it ain’t purdy.
Jerilyn leaves again for a cruise next week… but not me.

There’s already talk of masking up and vaccines incoming.
You won’t see me posting here about being locked down with dogs like with COVID — no matter what happens. I also won’t be lining up to get a vaccine either — no matter what happens. I will respectfully wear a mask in the unlikely event that it’s required, but that’s it.
I had a conversation with my favorite brother about this the other day and he said he would absolutely line up for a jab. No judgement here… he was in a meeting room with over 700 people just a couple days ago. His lifestyle isn’t like mine.
Have you thought about what you would do should we face another pandemic?
Interesting to note: So many are worked up over this news… and conspiracy theorists have me turning to Grok to verify everything like it’s my job.
- Yes, Hantavirus was mentioned in Pfizer’s official Cumulative Analysis of Post-Authorization Adverse Event report, but evidence so far doesn’t link the Pfizer vaccine to causing hantavirus infections.
- Yes, it’s true that 323 vials containing deadly viruses (including Hantavirus) were reported missing from an Australia lab in 2024.
Now you know: A superstition on ships during the age of sail, was that a woman baring her breasts to the sea could calm the waters for safe travel. This is why ships would often have figureheads of half naked women.
