Everyone reading this has a connection to the Internet and therefore has heard about Andrew Fauci taking the 5th 111 times during questioning by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
What color is your tie?
The Fifth Amendment protects against compelled self-incrimination. A witness may assert the privilege whenever they reasonably believe truthful answers could contribute to criminal liability. I’m not sure how answering as to the color of his tie would fall under 5th amendment protection, but I’m just a practicing retired woman in rural Indiana.
When asked the color of the pillows she was resting on, Merida took the 5th — so I guess it can be invoked for anything.
Will it fly or will it die?
So, at this point, the central legal question is not whether Fauci was physically allowed to say “I invoke the Fifth”—any witness may do that. The unresolved question is whether those invocations were legally justified given the scope of his Biden pardon. If a contempt case proceeds, a court may have to answer that question.
The release of the Fauci diary was an eye-opener. And not in a good way either. I still had a friend post on FB that Fauci was a hero and I about choked on my coffee. I could care less if the dude is a democrat or republican — what he wrote in his diary did not correlate with what came out of his mouth when addressing Americans.

I supported the science — and I’m not gonna’ lie — after reading the diary entries, I wish I would’ve never taken the 1st vaccine. Or the 2nd one. Or the booster. We missed Christmases. Colette missed school. Others had it much worse than my family did, for sure.
