Personally, I don’t think allowing biological men to compete against biological women in sports is a “complex” issue, but the WNBA Commissioner does.
We don’t have gender issues here…
It’s time for the WNBA to clearly define who is eligible to play in a women’s professional league.
There are two former NBA players publicly saying they intend to deliberately test the WNBA’s eligibility rules. Former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White have announced that they are declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft, saying they identify as a woman for purposes of basketball. The WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement says only “players who are women” are eligible, so the definition of “women” is now the subject of this dispute.
I’ve lived long enough to understand that if you make certain choices, there are concessions — other things you may have to give up after you make a decision based upon your priorities. Biological men should never be allowed to play in women’s sports and nothing will change my mind on that issue. If you’re a man and becoming a woman is your top priority… know you give up playing in a sex-based-sport.

Live your life as you choose, and I’ll treat you with respect—but don’t require me to surrender a boundary or redefine a sex-based category because of your personal choice.
The WNBA also needs stronger standards for player conduct, physical retaliation, officiating consistency, and social-media behavior.
Yesterday, DiJonai Carrington of the Chicago Sky was ejected for a Flagrant 2 after hitting Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham in the face/head during a fast-break layup attempt. The officials reviewed it and determined the contact was unnecessary and excessive. Sophie — and I — think it was intentional.
Making the incident particularly explosive is what happened afterward: Carrington posted “WHITE PRIVILEGE @indianafever” on social media, connecting the ejection to the fact that Sophie is white and she is not. 🙄 🤬
If the WNBA doesn’t get a handle on this… someone is going to end up REALLY getting hurt.
