it’s a good thing we don’t own chihuahuas

I am the proud owner of two big dogs — each over 100 pounds. Hugo qualifies as a medium sized dog and is a more manageable size… just not a manageable personality. Labs are my favorite breed but because I’m not getting younger, I’ve made it known my next pet will be a smaller dog.

Yesterday morning had me questioning that position.

hawk on fence

That hawk could easily carry off Mom’s dog, Mozzie, and even a feisty chihuahua wouldn’t stand a chance. Since we name all the wildlife out here that sticks around, we’ll call that dude Harry.

Harry can’t catch Chuck.

The little turd that keeps tripping one of the security cameras is a fast little guy. He’s also pretty darned annoying even though he’s cute.

Internet, meet Chuck.

There’s been no change in the color of the leaves yet, but fall is in full swing otherwise.

Mr. Farmer’s corn sure looks ready for harvest to my untrained eye, and mornings are cool. The number of hummingbirds has dwindled down to almost nothing here. I still see a few, but I no longer have to fill the feeders every day.

What’s fall looking like in your slice of the earth?

Now you know: In 1978, a Finnish man hijacked a domestic flight after asking to visit the cockpit. He collected over $200k in ransom during the 17 hour, 4500 km journey via Helsinki and Amsterdam. His final demands were four bottles of whisky, a chauffeured limousine and 24 hours alone with his wife. His demands were met, he turned himself in, and got 7 years in prison.
