fall is fabulous in Indiana and i’m thrilled i don’t drive a school bus

I’m loving the current Indiana weather… although it crept near 90° yesterday. While it is supposed to rain today, yesterday morning, I had breakfast outside.

breakfast outside

I’m not a morning person so it’s often close to lunchtime before I eat breakfast. And even then, the outside temps are comfortable. The lack of oppressive humidity is most noticeable.

And we have beautiful evenings in the fall!

Rural evenings are the best! Quiet and peaceful with gorgeous skies. 🩷

I’m grateful to be back in my hometown and in a rural setting. While the house in Seymour was great — floors not made of concrete and tons of bathroom and kitchen space — I still MUCH prefer it here.

For the record… I’m thrilled I no longer pilot a school bus.

Did y’all see the video of the school bus accident on I-465 this week? (You can watch it on X HERE, and get more info from WRTV 6 HERE.)

They are investigating the crash that injured 13 and haven’t placed the blame on any specific vehicle yet — but they are looking for a blue Honda Minivan. Investigators say a Warren Township school bus, the minivan and a police truck were all entering northbound I-465 from Washington Street when the crash happened.

It sure looked to me like the minivan cut off the bus and did a brake check. People who’ve never driven a big vehicle have no idea that you simply can’t see a car that’s right up on your rear bumper and you can’t stop on a dime. And of course, everyone is in a hurry and no one wants stuck behind a school bus.

Now you know: Buzz Aldrin reported seeing flashes of light with his eyes closed during Apollo 11, and NASA later determined they were charged particles (radiation) passing directly through his eyeballs and triggering his retina, with no actual light involved
