What about John Hughes passing away yesterday at age 59? Talking a walk one minute and dead the next. Did I mention he was only 59? Scary stuff. And very sad.
For those of you that don’t recognize the name — he’s best known for his 80’s movies. I personally remember him most for “Home Alone,” “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” and “Uncle Buck.” So “The Breakfast Club” wasn’t my thing.
I read through some of the tributes online — and found out the coolest thing in what was said by Steve Martin. “The script for ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’ was the best script I had ever read,” Martin said. “I asked John how long it took to write it, he said, ‘I wrote it over the weekend.’ The weekend. That shows you what he was able to do.”
My big accomplishment for the weekend will probably be stocking up on groceries. If I decide to write a script instead, I’ll let you know.
