Perry and Carl put the pool cover on and it lasted about 2 days. Next, Perry put the cover on by himself and it lasted longer, but it finally gave up the good fight a few days ago. It’s been so windy, it wasn’t possible to get it back in place. Finally just a slight breeze, Perry was at it again last evening…
Others with the same problem recommend clamping the cover down.
I watched youtube videos and read expert opinions to finally come up with the next thing to try… clamps. If it doesn’t stay on this time, I’m going to order a different type cover. Not sure what else we can do. ARG!
Air flows through that area like crazy even when it’s not windy. The barndo on one side and the woods on the other makes that strip of clearing perfect for wind to ramp up in velocity. Just think about how much money we’d save with wind turbine power! 😯
How much would we save?
Google let me know that residential wind turbines can cost up to $75K. It’s around $5K per kW of energy capacity… and residential homes will need between 5 kW and 15 kW.
If we paid $75,000 cash (no loan interest) for the turbine and save $150 monthly on our electric bill (that’s factoring our monthly electric bill that’s high in the summer and low in the winter), it would take over 41 years to reach the payback point. Guess we’ll have to stick with REMC — doubtful I’ll be around 41 years to enjoy the savings.
