the wicked witch of the east is alive!

As a kid, I watched Wizard of Oz at least a bajillion times. You’ve seen it, right? Well… remember the house landing on the Wicked Witch of the East, crushing her, and all that was left exposed of the ole’ gal was her funky socks and ruby slippers?

The Wicked Witch of the East didn’t die… obviously…

While Dorothy stole her ruby slippers, that witch replaced them with Kuru shoes and is still out and about on a county road just north of the Ville. Named Evanora by Frank Baum, the witch of the east has since changed her name to Pollynora and left her eastern location to rule over the midwest. She’s shown above with her great-granddaughter.

All those munchkins celebrated for nothing. 😏

Now you know: Margaret Hamilton, a single mother, got into an argument with the studio over guaranteed time to work, only agreeing to take the role of the Wicked Witch of the West three days before filming. Ironically, although she finally got an agreement for five weeks of work, she ended up working on the film for three months.
