eat them if you’ve got them: they’ll be gone soon

I absolutely LOVE homegrown tomatoes! While I wouldn’t care if I never see a hot-house tomato again in my lifetime, I will encourage Mr. Pesky to plant tomatoes in his garden even if he has to do it behind a walker.

Eat them if you’ve got them!

There’s nothing better than an egg sandwich with mayo and slices of a homegrown tomato. It doesn’t matter that my bread is Keto (carbs are your enemy) when I slather on as much Hellman’s Mayo as possible. Messy? You betcha!

Jackson County, Indiana, fresh tomatoes are soon to be a memory.

Mr. Pesky is overrun with tomatoes right now. Even as we’re eating as many as we can hold and he’s giving them away by the bag, there are still so, so many tomatoes. When he said, “It won’t be long until they’re gone,” I made it my mission to consume even more of them.

Fresh tomatoes becoming unavailable is just another sign that summer will soon be closing out and temperatures will start cooling down. I’ve said it a bajillion times… I LOVE the change of seasons.

Just when you get tired of the one you’re in, another one is just around the corner.

Now you know: The first non–Native American settler in Manhattan may have been a free black man: Jan Rodrigues, a sailor marooned in 1613 by a Dutch vessel, who then married into an Indian tribe and became a negotiator between it and Dutch traders.
