outside boiler has started its summer vacation

Radiant floor heat is amazing in the winter — not so amazing in the spring and fall. The hot water in the floors takes a long time to get the house hotter… and a very long time to cool off when it warms up during the daytime hours. I’m one of those people that wants my bedroom cool (cool enough that you could hang meat in there), with soft cozy blankets to snuggle under.

Last night was miserable. Worst. Night. Ever.

Using these mini-split units for heat takes some getting used to. It doesn’t help that I personally think mine are shit. Running A/C in the dining room, it’s frigid no matter what you set the thermostat on. When heating the bedroom, it’s hot even when that unit is set at 60°. I guess I’ll just have to take time to get it worked out.

If that’s not bad enough, I had to get up early this morning to get through the morning routine — email, dogs, shower, etc. — before going with Carl to a specialist.

Another doctor visit’s obligatory selfie is in the books.

The doctor’s visit was all good. But coming home after leaving Hugo alone with the other two hounds and not me? Not so great. Ben had the day off, thankfully, and took care of the little turd. He freaks the heck out when I’m gone and one of them had blood streaks down both sides of the hallway. Nothing bad though, because even after inspecting all 3 dogs, I couldn’t find one spot that would bleed on any of them.

Rescue dogs ain’t easy, you guys. Neither is getting older. All complaints aside, I’m grateful to be healthy enough to scrub walls and that I don’t have a job that requires me to be away from the house 8-10 hours per day. 🙂

Now you know: Harry S. Truman was the last U.S. president to serve without a college degree. Although he briefly attended Spalding’s Commercial College and University of Missouri–Kansas City, he never earned a formal degree.
