Call me boring, but I do better when I follow some semblance of a routine. I even feel better when I get up at nearly the same time every day. If it’s 6:00 AM that I need to rise, that’s fine because I can prepare for that and did it for years. But if my routine is to get up at 8:00 AM and I’m required to come alive at 4:30 AM, I have a big ole problem.
Dogs are creatures of habit too.
All 3 of my dogs have a set time to pee every morning. Like clockwork, they want out and by gosh, someone is going to let them out.

I always do that chore on weekends, but here I am in the middle of the week up before 5:00 AM, pissed off because my routine is again screwed up while I type away bitching about it.
What about being spontaneous, you ask?
If you want me to be spontaneous, it’s going to happen after 9:00 AM. I’ve never been a big planner — I’m the girl that packs for a week-long trip the night before leaving. But after getting up at the ass-crack of dawn for most of my adult life, I figure I’ve earned the right to get out of bed at 8:00 AM. 🙂
Surveys and studies on daily habits suggest that around 70% of Americans adhere to structured daily schedules. The specifics depend on lifestyle, with younger adults and those without fixed work schedules reporting less rigid routines. I haven’t been a young adult for quite a while now so I’m definitely in that 70% category.
What about you?
Do you function better when following a set routine?
Now you know: In 1967, the Prime Minister of Albania declared the country the world’s first atheist state, banning all religion.
