a world where nothing looks the same twice

Aug 14, 2025

We are living in an era where reality is edited in real time. Have you noticed it too? Celebrities vanish and then reappear looking like totally different people. They tell us it’s “just makeup” or a “new diet.” It seems like it’s possible to rewrite how someone looks overnight.

That isn’t how it works for regular people like me… and probably you.

I’m here eating 3 Weight Watcher point bland breakfasts.

I’ve never had a facelift or any type of cosmetic surgery. Many of my family members and friends have — and good for them! Many of my family members and friends have tried or are using Ozempic for weight loss — good for them! Even other family members and friends have had weight loss surgery. For those that kept the weight off — good for them!

Which is it? Body positivity or conforming to expectations of perfection?

On one hand, there’s so much out there about body positivity and loving yourself for who you are. On the other hand, there’s a huge cash grab waiting for those who are never satisfied with what they look like. I spend my $10/month for a Weight Watchers subscription, own a treadmill, and invest in face cream for night and day use. I’m old, not obese and not thin. And honestly… I’m good with that.

Dogs don’t care.

Dogs care a whole lot more about a chipmunk that just jumped off the deck than about how much I weigh or how old I am. They also don’t care how fat they get so long as they can still bark at and chase after those little critters.

They also don’t care that they look like the spawn of Satan when captured inside looking outside at night.

And finally, I’ve lost a tiny amount as recorded for the ‘Fat Chicks Diet’ contest this week. The other girls have lost more than me overall. Again, I’m just not motivated and don’t feel that competitive edge this year either… at least not yet. I’m walking faster and longer without the fear of dying, and that’s what I’m in it for this time around anyway.

Now you know: Soundgarden front man, Chris Cornell, wrote the entirety of Black Hole Sun in his head while driving home from a recording studio in Woodinville, Washington. The title came from a news anchor Cornell heard while channel-surfing on the radio.
