my inspiration folder

May 24, 2012

You may already have the same thing going… but just in case you don’t, I want to share…

I spend hours of every day in front of my computer. Most of those hours are consumed with work, but there moments that I’m waiting on a call, or eating lunch, or just have random down time where I open my RSS reader and catch up on things that interest me. Every time I find a little quote or a photo I especially like, I drag it to a folder I created called “inspiration”. It sits right there on my desktop.

It’s not really all that organized, but just opening it up and rolling through the icons, I can always find something to inspire me. It might be a recipe I thought was awesome that I pull out to try, or a photo with a special kind of light that I want to learn to replicate, or just nothing at all stuff like a comic strip:

With a Mac, it’s easy to screenshot just the portion of the screen you want to capture — Shift/Command (Apple)/4. I don’t think you LOSER PC users can get by that easily, and if you can, please feel free to share in the comment section because I would love to know.

If you have moments you aren’t feeling inspired (heh, like most ALL of the time), try creating a little inspiration of your own — because inspiration can come from about anywhere. Don’t believe me? Check this dude out….

Fred the Frog (yes, I almost titled this post ‘McErwin’s Farm’) — and about 10 of his friends — were the sole inspiration for Perry and me to get the pool open. Seriously. Last I checked, Fred & Friends were headed to the pesky neighbor’s place to see what was shakin’ down there. They aren’t fond of chlorine, and don’t like it here anymore.
