low saturation photography

May 9, 2012

Everyone has their own personal photography style, and I love looking at the differences in composition, color, and lighting. Typically, I aim for vibrant explosions of color — you know… happy, full of energy, vivid hues.

But processing low saturation images can create some truly stunning photos as well. Reducing the saturation can inspire a different mood or tone to any photo. Of course, fading the photos by lowering the saturation produces different effects on different photos…

Try it out! Simply create a new adjustment layer in your favorite photo manipulation program (Photoshop for me please), and play around with the results. I’ll stick with my own style. =)
