because moving sucks

because moving sucks

Just me… absent for a long time and still struggling with a move that may last forever.

After THREE surveys, everyone finally agreed to a property line. That’s done. Still no clue when my move in date will be, but I am 100% positive I have to turn over the keys here on the 9th of September. Perry took a week off to help move but without anyplace to go, even that sort of sucks.

moving day again

DRUM ROLL PLEASE… a dumpster was delivered. It will be picked up tomorrow so today is the day for last minute trashy decisions.

4 more sleeps

When Ben was little and excitedly counting down days he would always ask, “how many more sleeps?” I have 4. FOUR! Four more sleeps until I have no clue how I’ll handle 2 dogs in a strange sleeping area.

TIL (Today I Learned): The fancy antique bottle which Jeannie called home was actually a decorative Jim Beam liquor decanter, which originally contained “Beam’s Choice” Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

today i did… nothing… nada…

today i did… nothing… nada…

My big plans today amounted to a big fat ZERO.

It still feels like the Twilight Zone.

We have exactly two weeks before we turn over the keys to this house. Two weeks is a very long time when you’re waiting on something important. Two weeks isn’t very long when the place you want to buy has a survey not back yet.

I’ve been packing slowly and have put a big dent in the items to move. I still have lots to do… like take down all the wall hangings and clean them, and pull out the upholstery cleaner for the family room furniture. I haven’t even started on clothes but if I had a good 2 days with a little help, I’d be done.

Not this help though:

puppies are no help at all

I might feel more excited if I knew for 100% sure I had a place to sleep on 9/2/22.

TIL (Today I Learned): During World War One up to 12 million letters a week were delivered to soldiers, many on the front line.

just more packing…

just more packing…

Spent the day packing up stuff yesterday and I’ll be doing the same today. I’m almost to the point that if I had a place to go, I could finish up in a couple days.

Gimme a gondola!

A gondola (dumpster) is incoming when I get a target date for the move because I’m not a yard sale person. George Foreman grill… trash. Suitcases no longer used… trash. There’s nothing I’ll fool with to make a quarter or a dollar. I hate going to yard sales and I sure as heck ain’t havin’ one. (Sorry, Mom.)

All the pictures and wall hangings are coming down today to be cleaned and packed for the move. The furniture I planned to put in the dumpster? I’ve decided to move all that stuff for use until I figure out what I want. I’m going to drag out the upholstery cleaner and go to war on them today too.

So out of my zone.

I watched an episode of Chip and Joanna’s “Fixer Upper” where their client wanted the home vibe to be something crazy — nothing like Joanna’s farmhouse style. I feel Joanna’s pain! The place I’m going is NOTHING… and I repeat NOTHING… remotely close to what I like.

A change in paint is NOT going to turn those pine kitchen cabinets into cherry nor the driftwood trim (only in certain places) to match the same wood and finish as all the other trim. My new kitchen is not going to grow in size.

Funny thing is… I DON’T CARE.

multiple short trips but not for fun

multiple short trips but not for fun

Yesterday, we had enough boxes packed to be in the way so we made a couple quick trips to the Ville to store them. The stuff I packed plus items from the attic are now visiting the Pesky’s until they have a new home. It’s the first time my Christmas tree and decorations have made it out in August.

Life is a joy!

moving partners

Actually, nothing about moving is a joy, but making the best of the situation is about the best we can do. It’s admirable! Right?

Closing on Friday morning… 4 days. Not that I’m counting. 😉

TIL (Today I Learned): Margaret Cho suffered kidney failure from rapid weight loss after her appearance was criticized by executive producer Gail Berman of the show All-American Girl.

another packing day

another packing day

I’ve been packing for days and have barely scratched the surface. I have no idea how many boxes are full, I just know that I’m out of empty ones. Perry is supposed to have more on the way from his store and I put in a request to my neighbor for 500 more just like the 10 he brought last week. 🙂

Timing is everything… and nothing at all.

This house will belong to someone else in 5-days. It will be at least 10-days before I have a replacement home… maybe longer. Timing a move when you don’t know when it will be is impossible. All I can do is keep throwing all my possessions in boxes.

boxing it up

I spent the entire day yesterday checking labels for dates and packing food. My city trash can is already full and pick-up day is Friday… don’t know when to line up a dumpster when everything is so up in the air and you only get to keep them for 3-days. I plan to hire movers and of course, that needs to be scheduled in advance… again, timing is key.

Get to work dude!

I saw on Facebook that the seller of the place I’m buying was at the racetrack last night. It took a whole lot of willpower for me not to reprimand him publicly. I so wanted to tell him to get out there and get his stuff!
