Bernie Sanders held a rally on 3/7/25 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, WI. There were around 3500 that attended with an additional 500 or so turned away because of capacity. This is part of Sanders’ “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. His main support act during the event — the musical portion — was transgender, Laura Jane Grace. No problem with that, right?

All together now… “Does your God have a big fat d*ck.”

Yes, seriously. The song performance was also signed for those in attendance that couldn’t hear the words. What demographic was being targeted with such a provocative and controversial offering? As of today, Bernie has made no apologies.

Time will tell if he embraces it as an expression of free speech or artistic license that aligns with his progressive base — or if he will address it and recognize it was a misstep that requires a response. I’d wager that I’m not the only American that finds this utterly disgusting.

It’s so disgusting that it ruins appetites.

Hugo's not hungry

I know there are people on both sides of the political spectrum that are way over the top. From my perspective, this is in a league of its own.

Now you know: Actor Tom Arnold’s sister got married at age 14, with her mother’s permission, to a 23-year old. She later went on to run one of the largest meth operations in the Midwest until her arrest in 1989.

as a politician i would never sleep

as a politician i would never sleep

I wasn’t a fan of government in high school and I thought it was because I didn’t like listening to lectures and taking notes. Come to find out — more than 40 years later — I should’ve paid more attention.

I understand just enough to be dangerous.

Hugo likely knows more about tariffs, politics, and balancing individual freedoms with collective needs than I do.

Hugo dreaming about tariffs

Although I’m interested in what’s going on in the world, I can admit that I’m not an expert on anything as it pertains to our government. I know what I support and what I don’t… and vote for the candidates that best represent my values. I can’t imagine having the weight of huge decisions that impact millions of people on my shoulders. I would NEVER sleep.

But you know what else I don’t understand?

I don’t understand what the most vocal Democrats (like Al Green, Jasmine Crocket, Maxine Waters, Elizabeth Warren, Chuck Schumer, & others) think they can accomplish with what they’re blasting to the media (the songs sang off-key, the saturation of short video clips, etc.). As I see it, if they continue in this manner, Barron Trump will be elected president before a Democrat is elected again. And Al Green’s stunt at Trump’s address? Oddly enough, that didn’t bother me like the paddle brigade who couldn’t clap for a little feller who has fought cancer for 6 years.

I “sort of” get wearing pink in resistance to Trump’s agenda and the perceived slights against women — but Democratic women in Congress also wore pink after voting against a Senate bill on 3/3/25 aimed to protect women by banning transgenders from female sports — so how does that even make sense?

Cringe marketing is not a good look!

The new House Democrats “choose your fighter” skit is… well, you decide…

Now you know: The majority of Americans — 79% — (based on NY Times/Ipsos poll from 1/25) believe athletes should compete based on their birth gender. Another NY Times/Ipsos poll from 1/25 found that 55% of Americans support deporting all immigrants living in the U.S. illegally. When narrowed to those who entered in the past four years, support rose to 63%. Over 80% polled said if the immigrant was linked to any crime they should be deported.

list 5 bullet points of what you accomplished last week

There are news articles circulating that say federal employees are to be sent the following in email: “Please reply to this email with approx. 5 bullets of what you accomplished last week and cc your manager.

Many democrats are flipping out and many republicans are cheering. I’m sitting here wondering what’s new — either earth shattering or horrific — about that.

I could do one of these for work and one personal in less than 5 minutes.

When I worked at a bank, all employees were required to create a weekly report that was sure a whole lot more involved than this request. We had to list how many services we cross sold (% offered and % closed), along with the number of clients we worked for. I kept a notebook where I wrote down every single thing I did every single day. Not only did it protect me if another wanted to say I did something I did not — it was a great tool to refresh my memory regarding on-going loans and more.

If you’re getting paid to do a job, your employer has a right to ask what you accomplished, right?

The #1 accomplishment on my personal list for last week?

I kept 3 dogs alive. 🙂

Hugo is still alive.

Now you know: Nimrod is a biblical figure who is known as a mighty hunter. While most people think it means idiot or fool due to Bugs Bunny, he actually called Elmer Fudd this sarcastically because he is an awful hunter.

Where are all the people that used to be in the great American middle? I’m still here and can’t see but just a few folks nearby. Oh, and 3 dogs…

Stay off Facebook for a week and what’s the first post I’m shown in my feed?

“So, as middle-class people, what’s the plan for when our retired and disabled relatives lose their social security, Medicare and Medicaid?”

At my age, just the mere thought of cuts to SSI and Medicare make my stomach roll over. In addition, I worked for a dentist about 100 years ago and understand how important basic healthcare is for those who can’t afford to pay for it. We fixed teeth for a whole lot of kids with medicaid, and they should still be eating with them now… decades later.

Next, that FB post morphed into people commenting that Elon would still get his hair transplants, Viagra, and chin surgeries covered. I know the government pays for Viagra — at least for Veterans with PTSD & depression — but I’m not aware of money allocated for cosmetic procedures. Have you heard of any? And anyone that believes Elon needs the federal government to subsidize a few pills and work done by Bosley is a moron. 🙄

I simply can’t understand why some spew a constant barrage of scare tactics.

If you’re reading this, please don’t do that. You’re not going to change anyone’s mind on politics by scaring them on Facebook — that’s not why the majority of people visit that social media site anyway. Do you know why most go on social media?

Here are the top 2 reasons per research cited by ChatGPT:

  1. To stay connected. They want to stay in touch with family, friends, and colleagues.
  2. For entertainment and relaxation. They want to watch short video clips, laugh at memes, and engage in content for fun to pass the time.

Now you know: The film Top Gun: Maverick was actively supported and influenced by the United States Department of Defense and the United States Navy to present the U.S. military in a positive light and aid in recruitment and retention.

here’s how i know there’s a big problem

here’s how i know there’s a big problem

Preface: this is a political post from a business perspective…

I understand why the Democrat party is freaking out because Elon Musk and team are allowed access to sensitive information. What I don’t understand is why the majority of the Democrat party’s leadership aren’t also expressing outrage for the crazy expenditures that were being made with tax dollars by USAID — and offering forward-thinking solutions. Those elected by the people should represent the people they work for.

Seriously, you have to wonder why your tax dollars funded a $43 million dollar gas station in Afghanistan, spent almost $50K for a transgender opera in Columbia, and gave Peru $32,000 to create an LGBTQ-centered comic book. Don’t you? And it’s not like these accusations of where the money went are “made up.” All the expenditures of USAID are public and may be accessed through various government transparency and accountability websites.

You don’t swing at every pitch.

Polls show that the majority of people think the government is wasting money. Trump is generating outrage by the steps he’s taking — he’s a master of disruption and is moving so quickly it’s hard to keep up — that’s his strategy. Say what you want about Trump, but his strategy is smart. Democrats are kept off-balance trying to put out small fires and frankly, are made to look out of touch and irrelevant in every form of media outlet (most recently, even on CNN).

I’m no expert, and I’ve never been a staunch supporter of either party affiliation, so you can take this observation with the weight it has (none) — it seems to me that Trump is disrupting, while Democrats are distracting (the ole’ “don’t look there… look over here” tactic).

Trump is a businessman and disruption in business is crucial.

Disruption drives innovation and challenges outdated models. It introduces fresh solutions that improve efficiency and sets new industry standards. Companies like Uber, Netflix, and Tesla have shown that embracing disruption leads to growth, market dominance, and long-term success. As Trump disrupts, it makes the Dems look like they’re playing whack-a-mole — and I can’t understand why they continue defending choices that don’t represent the majority of the people.

Stepping off my soapbox, here’s what is going on in my muddy slice of the world. 🙂

Now you know: William Halsted was a famous surgeon and a founder of Johns Hopkins, but was addicted to cocaine and used it during surgeries. He would inject himself with cocaine to test it before using it on patients. Eventually his writings for the NY Medical Journal became incoherent.
