It’s said Amber Heard has inked a deal to write a tell-all book about her relationship with Johnny Depp. On the heels of the defamation suit — with a verdict holding her liable — she needs a way to make some money. Today is the last day for filing any post-judgement motions (like the jury was swayed by social media, etc.). We’ll see what rolls out of that.
Back to the book deal…
I’m waiting for the Depp team to file a motion for injunction — a request for the court to compel Heard to stop making comments that have already been found to be defamatory. I hope that comes today.
In the recent Savannah Guthrie interview, Heard said, “I spoke it (meaning the truth) to power, and I paid the price.” That sure sounds a lot like what was in her op-ed that was found defamatory, “Then two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.“
Good grief! She says she just wants to be left alone but simply can’t stop running her mouth. 🙄
If she writes anything that’s a “tell all,” it will have to be along the lines of OJ’s book, “If I Did It.” We know how much controversy surrounded that bright idea.
Sadly, I don’t have anything to tell in my tell-all book. The post title was lie. Since I’ve already told a big ole’ fib, I might as well put one more out there…

TIL (Today I Learned): Ghost ships, (ships found abandoned with no sign of the crew), still occur even with modern methods of rescue, safety and communication. The last recorded ship to be found with no sign of life was in January 2021. 😯
In the last couple days, the number of crazy SPAM emails I’ve received has gone up exponentially. Why, just a minute ago, Ella thought I needed a back and body shaver. A back shaver? Seriously? Who buys this stuff??
SPAM via contact forms is so dumb.
We get a considerable number of contact form emails from our business website. It’s locked down with Google Recaptcha. That means it’s supposed to block bots by using advanced risk analysis techniques. If it worked 100% of the time, there sure are a bunch of humans that want to sell us professional toenail clippers.
When I receive an email from our form that states, “to check availability and discuss securing him…,” I expect an inquiry from a company with $35k and an upcoming meeting. Nope. It’s just someone wanting to sell me some amazing and very professional toenail clippers. 🙄
Still on verdict watch for Depp VS Heard.
The jury had a question yesterday that brought the judge and attorneys back into the courtroom. I don’t think you can read much into it — opinions are all over the board on if it was in favor of Depp or Heard. All speculation since we have no clue what jurors are talking about.
In addition, Depp’s team filed a motion — they didn’t like the statements made in closing arguments by Rottenborn. I agree with them, but the shit has already left the horse — the jury is in deliberations.
Speaking of the jury… they left a little bit early today. Is that because they can’t agree and are distancing for the night? Or… have they arrived at a decision, want to sleep on it, and we’ll have verdict in the morning?

I have to tell you, I was so shocked… so appalled… so… so… flabbergasted when Casey Anthony wasn’t found guilty in 2011. If this jury is hung — or if this jury believes everything Amber Heard has testified to — I think my feelings will be similar. But truthfully, reading the juror forms, I don’t see how on earth they can find for either one of them.
TIL (Today I Learned): The first commercial airliner shot down by hostile forces was refurbished, returned to service, and later became the third commercial airliner to be shot down by hostile forces.
Closing arguments were yesterday in the Depp/Heard trial and two jurors were removed from deliberations as alternates. Both of them were judged by courtroom attendees as pro-Johnny Depp. But really… who knows?
Remember Casey Anthony?
I remember the Casey Anthony trial. My friend, Alisa, and I watched as much of the actual trial as we could, and then would watch CourtTV for recaps in the evening. We’d throw our opinions back and forth and we agreed on about everything. But rarely was the reporting from the mainstream media congruent with what we felt we heard live. This case is much the same.
Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez, wore white for closing arguments — Amber Heard wore a braid in her hair that looked like a halo. Perception may be important for jurors… but it’s mega-fodder for the media. The way the media reports sways public opinions — and the opinion of the public is paramount for the 2 celebrities in this case. Although it makes ZERO difference in the jury’s decision, it’s likely the most important thing for what comes after this trial.
What doesn’t make it to the jury could change everything.
For example, there’s a recording from the abuse claim in Australia — the altercation where Johnny lost his finger and Amber was allegedly raped with a bottle. The recording was from Amber’s phone and secretly recorded everything said by everyone in the aftermath. It clearly outlines that Amber had only “a few scratches” that everyone talking felt were self-inflicted. You can hear Amber saying things that are in agreement with Johnny’s testimony — not hers.
But this audio can’t come in as evidence because Depp’s bodyguard can be heard throughout… and he’s dead so he can’t give permission. Illustrations like the one below never make it to the jury either, but would obviously make an impact:

Heard shouldn’t have written the op-ed — she did it for the publicity. She didn’t need a temporary restraining order — Depp was heading out of the country for months. She did that for the publicity. Abused or not abused — Heard has done everything for the publicity. If she would’ve just told a believable story, rather than exaggerate and embellish her claims by growing the allegations over time, she might’ve had more in her camp. Real tears when fake crying might help too.
Instead, I’m rooting for Johnny Depp — I know what it feels like to be falsely accused in the media. It happened to our business years ago and it’s ugly. For normal people, fighting back isn’t an option.
And finally… Seymour Walmart sucks and the popular FaceBook profile photo app does too. 😠
It took me over an hour and a half to straighten out missing items from my Walmart delivery today. Walmart said my order was shopped for and delivered by one of their vendors so I needed to contact them. Walmart Seymour wasn’t able to refund the items not received, nor have them delivered. Even though Walmart took my money, it’s not their fault. ARG!
And the latest popular thing on Facebook is the new profile photo. Why use a photo of what you really look like when you can use a modified image that looks like this?
I’ll pass on the profile photo option and I’ve placed my last online delivery from Seymour Walmart. (At least until I’m over being mad.)
This time of year, weather in the Midwest can be ugly. In this house — I guess because it’s all brick? — I rarely hear anything going on outside. But this afternoon, the wind was howling so hard, I definitely heard it. At this point, there was no rain.
I thought I should let the dogs out (one at a time because Merida is too rough for Dharma), before the rain started. I opened the back door that goes into the sun room and the suction was crazy. Dharma outside first and the door not properly latched, it blasted open and even moved the stuff on the kitchen table.
In about 10-minutes, the rain started and the wind died down a bit.
Within the hour, the temperature has gone from 86°F to 67°F. Where the past few days have been tempting 90°, the next couple will barely see 70°. Now that Ben has a new A/C unit, it’ll be cool enough he doesn’t really need it. Go figure.
In other news, I had to throw away 9 pounds of Jif peanut butter. 😠
Is your peanut butter contaminated with salmonella? Instructions are to “discard the product immediately.” Not get a refund… just throw it away. Funny that J.M. Smucker isn’t able to “estimate the recall’s financial impact” on their company when I can tell you that it’s impacting me by $21.60.
Be VERY CAREFUL when shopping online at Walmart.
Just checking the prices of Jif so I could be accurate with my losses, I found that currently you can only buy one size and type of Jif peanut butter in the store or for home delivery. I had to go back to a past order to find out exactly what I paid because of the discrepancy of pricing in their current offerings. Check this out!
That’s quite a bit of difference in cost for the exact same product, don’t you think? Please note that Perry doesn’t have one single thing to do with any online product offerings. The only thing he’s online for in regard to work is congratulating associates for graduating. 😉
TIL (Today I Learned): Las Vegas grew 780,000 people since 2002 but water usage dropped by 24 billion gallons annually in 2020. Nevada’s allotment of water from Lake Mead is only 4% of the total inflow.
Here I go… referencing the Depp VS Heard trial and it’s not even in session this week. Can’t help myself because I’m just so amazed how “news organizations” pick sides on everything — not just politics.
Social media is full of trial clips and people voicing their opinions for both sides — more for Johnny Depp. Evidently, the news has to compete for those ad dollars, so juicier headlines are needed. No matter how far they’ll stoop for a scoop, there’s no way they can get saucier than TMZ who was happy to pay Heard for video of Depp slapping around cabinets, as well as a photo of her busted lip not allowed in trial.
Next you have the youtubers, tiktockers, twitter hashtags and facebook memes. The Internet is saturated with past and present video/audio clips and opinions — the Depp/Heard trial is a big draw right now so lots are doing it. Note this is the same process no matter what “big sensational happening” is going on in the world.
I tuned in to a stream yesterday and watched as names and contribution amounts donated during the show were read. The totals were astonishing — thousands of dollars.
I’ll admit, I love to consume the stuff the jury will never see or hear.
But when it comes to my NEWS — I just want accurate and unbiased reporting.
I’m not sure that exists anymore. 🙁
Merida hates social media, biased news stories, tabloids… and everything else one may consume or access while online. Computer time for her Mom means less attention throughout the day. Be like Merida!
