COVID infections seem to be going down around here. Probably because people are masking across their nose and mouth and not just letting them hang off one ear.
Columbus Regional Hospital is again doing some non-emergency procedures, and Jackson County is showing as declining in positive cases. ISDH has our county at 2 (orange) instead of 3 (red like Jennings County). Nice improvement from where we were a few short weeks ago. Indiana is currently #23 on the severe list, Nevada is in slot 7, and believe it or not… Florida is looking great and in the 49th slot.
If wearing a mask on one ear didn’t get me any points, how about this?
Lemon blueberry bundt cake without the blueberries. I liked it better, Perry likes it better with blueberries, and the peskies like any kind of food. My Momma baked a persimmon pudding (my very favorite dessert on the planet!) the same day, so we swapped out a few pieces. The persimmon pudding was amazing so Mom gets all the extra points on this one. 🙂

Brian Laundrie was still wanted and still missing when his sister, Cassie, spoke to protestors in her yard last night. They’ve been standing in front of her home screaming for days now trying to get her to ‘tell what she knows’. That tactic didn’t work on her parents, but she has children to consider.
Protestors have been putting on the pressure in an effort to get her to spill the beans on what they think she knows. Social media is in a frenzy believing she lied when speaking with Good Morning America prior to Gabby being found deceased. Protestors yelling in the street caused her neighbors to complain and her kids to be afraid and cry. In frustration, she and her husband came outside.
I believe Cassie’s explanation regarding the previous interview and I believe she’s truthful when she says she’s fully cooperated with the FBI. I also believe her when she says that she’s not been in contact with her parents or brother. (Click to watch the video and read the accompanying article.) I hope this new interview wasn’t yet another mistake. There are already soooo many closed-minded judgmental people typing frantically on a keyboard proving it really doesn’t matter what anyone says — it’s never good enough. People want answers… I don’t think she has them.

The one thing I know for certain that the FBI doesn’t know is that I make a mean egg salad. 24 eggs in two days and there’s none left. I’m also out of bread now and I doubt even Dog TBH is aware of that tidbit. 😉
UPDATE: The Laundrie sister, Cassie, also spoke again to GMA (aired this morning) saying basically the same thing she told the protestors.
Decided to put on new ColorStreet nail strips and lemme tell y’all… the color ‘deep blue’ is likely the worst color ever. At least for me. This crap is coming off before the sun goes down. I like dark colors and I like bright colors. In low light (like the photo below), it’s not horrible, I guess. But let the light hit these digits and it’s as bad as it gets.
For the record, taking old strips off with acetone isn’t difficult, but there’s glue of some sort in the polish strips. Sort of like the glue they use on the backs of the stickers on a Bic lighter… gummy. Where’s my Goof Off or Goo Gone? 🙂
Other things around here display colors that are more my preference…
Brian Laundrie has still not been found and people posting on social media are getting more ridiculous. Hashing over suppositions like the mere sharing of their ideas will bring him in. Reddit has a “night shift” for tracking flights with users hoping to see the focus search areas of law enforcement. The other night, there was much discussion about one helicopter’s path and altitude in particular — it was mosquito control.
So many others are just mean, ugly humans. Like some sharing that poor Gabby Petito’s death was a blonde, blood sacrifice and Brian Laundrie was set-up to take the fall. Pathetic. Really. I wonder how long this will continue if dude isn’t brought in. While I hope domestic violence and finding missing people remain important issues covered on social media, sadly, even my attention is waning on the hunt for Laundrie.
TIL (Today I Learned): Merle Haggard was a prisoner in the audience when Johnny Cash performed for inmates at California’s San Quentin State Prison in 1959.
It was 1975 or 1976 and I hadn’t had my driver’s license very long. I was driving home alone from the Jackson County Fair because my then boyfriend had left for the Navy shortly beforehand. It was dusk and a cat ran out in front of my car. I thumped over it and knew even before I stopped, the cat was dead. The pet’s owners were in their yard and heartbroken.
They told me it wasn’t my fault and I cried. I came home and told my Mom. I told my friends and cried some more. I was tore down, you guys. That’s been over 45 years and I still remember it. And I don’t even like cats!!
But Coco does…
I ugly cried and told everybody about my horrific cat story and remember it 45+ years later. What are the odds that Brian Laundrie takes a trip with his fiancé, returns home alone, and tells nothing to no one?
I understand why no one is talking now, but think the total silence early on was disgusting — but not against the law. I’m still redneck enough to root for Dog the Bounty Hunter instead of the FBI to find Brian Laundrie, but either way I hope he’s found soon. And, I’d love to see The Gabby Petito Foundation secure bajillions of dollars to help others in similar situations.
I LOVE October in southern Indiana. It’s one of my favorite months — a close tie with June. I love the cooler evenings and long for the days I lived in a rural setting where my bedroom window could remain open without worrying that neighbors might see me in bed by the light of the TV. Still debating on how to move forward since I also like the conveniences of living in a city… like grocery delivery. 🙂
Looks like rain is in the forecast for the next three days or so. That’s standard since it’s Seymour’s Oktoberfest weekend. Seems like it always rains, but it is warmer tonight than festivals in the past. I can remember wearing a sweatshirt and jeans and today, shorts and a tank would’ve been appropriate.
Jackson County, IN is still in the orange according to ISDH insofar as COVID. Looking at photos of the Oktoberfest on Facebook, I wonder what that number will look like in 5 days or so. In the meantime, statistics show my county has 15.30% of the population infected and 14.50% statewide. Better than Florida at 17.39% infected and Nevada that’s 15.31%. My favorite brother got the Pfizer vaccination and got a booster just today. He also got the flu shot and his only complaint is that his arm is sore.
And finally, the ColorStreet nails I only purchased because my buddy, Alisa, was co-hosting an online party are pretty darned awesome. One week today since I put those suckers on and there’s not even one chip. That’s after dishes (rarely use my dishwasher), showers, typing 100 mph, 12 hrs/day, and more.
My nails are much shorter now than when I spent one-hour every two-weeks to get them ground on with a Dremel and new resin applied. I’m good with that… no pain and no nail damage. I even ordered a pack of Color Street for my sweet Momma! 🙂
