Anonymous — formed in 2003 and the collective known for cyberattacks against several governments (and the Church of Scientology) — with its varied Twitter handles shared the following early this morning:

“Ukraine is a democratic country being invaded by a fascist dictatorship, the battle isn’t NATO vs Russia, the battle is democracy vs fascism.”

Not long afterward, the Russian Ministry of Defense’s website went down. 🙂

Dontcha’ wonder if that got Putin’s attention more than the sanctions imposed yesterday? Maybe… maybe not. Do you see the correlation between the sanctions outlined and southern Indiana’s weather this morning?

a skiff of snow in southern Indiana

It’s like Mother Nature saying, “Yo. I could snow but I’m not feeling it today so I’ll just remind you of what I could do if I really wanted to.

And everyone responding, “Pfft. No big deal.

TIL (Today I Learned): In World War II, British spies plotted to spike Hitler’s food with estrogen to make him less aggressive.

where are the hot corners?

where are the hot corners?

Still using the Android phone so I’m also using my Windows desktop exclusively. One of the most annoying things EVAH is the lack of hot corners. Rather than bask in the glow of a lit monitor, on an Apple, you can just move your mouse to the corner and the screensaver comes on (thus called hot corners). WTH, Windows?

Also lacking hot corners is my city where it snowed yet again last night…

snowing again in Seymour, Indiana

19°F this morning and it’s forecasted to be 65°F by Wednesday. Crazy, right?

Super Bowl Incoming

Although Perry is working, he’ll make it in front of a TV prior to kick-off. He’s so excited and wants his Bengals to win so badly. He was off yesterday and I don’t think he moved from in front of the computer… reading everything “football” he could find… wearing a Bengals t-shirt. 🙄

Sometimes, he’ll yack about statistics and for the most part, I listen. Like… the last time the Rams won was 1999. They were in the Super Bowl in 2019 and were defeated by the Patriots. The Bengals have made it to two Super Bowl playoffs — 1981 and 1988 — and the 49ers took the win both times. (For the record, I’ll forget all this stuff by tomorrow.)

Having no football team at my high school, I’m lost quite a bit when it comes to the rules and what each call means. I know what a touchdown is and even a field goal — everything else is gray to me. I’ll say, “Was that good?” at least 100 times during the game, I’m sure.

The Rams are favored to win this year, but I’ll be rooting for the Bengals. WHO DEY! Was that good? 😉

TIL (Today I Learned): The Bengals are one of 12 teams currently in the league that do not have any Super Bowl victories in their franchise’s history.

I think I’ll have a 2-hour delay tomorrow

I think I’ll have a 2-hour delay tomorrow

Local schools are on a 2-hour delay for tomorrow. I’ve notified my boss that I will also require that additional time to make it to the office tomorrow, as well. Poor Perry has to be at work at 7:00 AM and a friend said US 31 was a sheet of black ice late this evening. Perry’s not the best driver on the planet (sorry, Perry) — he’s the dude that pit maneuvered a police car.

That’s on his resume… just try and top it. 🙂

If that’s not bad enough, I’ve asked him to pick up groceries when he gets off. I placed an order online for all my family members and me. The driveway and sidewalk here are still so bad I didn’t have the heart to put in a delivery order. Yah… ummm… just put them on the front porch…

put the groceries on the porch

The good news is… it’s supposed to warm up and clear off by mid-week.

I would’ve waited a few days, but coffee creamer and eggs are life.

TIL (Today I Learned): Eggs contain the highest quality protein you can buy and they are one of the few foods that are a naturally good source of Vitamin D. And, new research has noted lower levels of vitamin D is associated with increased COVID-19 severity. (Read Forbes article here.)

I’ve been preparing and reviewing speaker contracts for close to two decades. On Friday, for the first time ever, I signed a legal document where specific COVID-19 verbiage was included. Booked for a big event by a company you’ve certainly heard of that begins with a “Z,” we received our first ever COVID addendum.

Sure, we’ve always had force majeure clauses that cover unforeseeable circumstances — like terrorist attacks, war, and such — and even COVID since it falls under why an event might need to reschedule. But the new COVID addendum is a smart and necessary move to legally protect the company having the event.

Terms and Conditions

You agree to notify the company of your vaccination status and agree to adhere to all the COVID rules they have in place (masks, social distancing, hand washing and more). You also sign that you understand you might get sick anyway and you assume any and all risks. It even covers how they plan to do contact tracing just for this event.

With an addendum for their contracts (all the people they contract to provide event services) and waivers for attendees, if anyone is exposed to COVID and dies post event (Heaven forbid!), ‘Z Company’ is legally protected because (a) they did everything they could to prevent virus spread — and (b) ya knew ya might get sick and die before ya went.

Good thing the ‘Z company’ event is not in Indiana. It’s so cold here people would need something warmer than a cloth mask to cover their faces, and you can’t wash your hands if you’re already wearing gloves. 😉

TIL (Today I Learned): Earmuffs were invented in 1873 by a 15 year-old farmer’s son with an elementary-level education who was tired of his ears getting cold while ice skating. It led to his hometown of Farmington, Maine, being known as the “earmuff capital of the world.”

Snowmageddon: Day 2, Afternoon

City road crew made it down our street around lunch but I’ve yet to see one car pass by, although I’m sure a few have. There are no tracks in the few driveways I can see from mine, but I’m guessing town is relatively clear by now. The snow has stopped.

one pass on my street to clear snow

Today is my trash day but no way was I dragging those cans through the snow to the road. None of my surrounding neighbors had trash out either. We’ll all have LOTS next week, that’s for sure.

Merida is living her best life!

Dharma missed out on this snow run. She went back to bed after her trips outside. Her outside time is spent barking at anything that moves… squirrels, neighbor’s dogs, the trees… she steps out to own the block. Not Merida! She wants to run and play and make friends with all the stuff that Dharma barks at.

When she came in, she looked so cute we took a couple selfies.

We LOVE Snowmageddon 2022! It’s awesome.

Better yet is the fact that it’s Friday, y’all. It’s a no-work weekend.
